Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Just retire, he's done it all now.
No, he hasn't. He has beaten a few good names. How on earth is that doing it all?
Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Hopkins - Been there, done that, it was awful and should never happen again
Hopkins is still a top 10 P4P fighter, a second more convincing win over him would be worth a lot to Calzaghe's record.
Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Dawson - Decent fighter, nothing more, nothing to gain for Joe, pointless fight
Dawson has beaten Adamek and Tarver, and should really be the unified WBC and IBF champion, instead of just the IBF chmpion. A win over him would really show Calzaghe's worth at Light Heavyweight.
Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Zsolt Erdei - Joke post surely?
Beating Erdei would give him the linear and WBO titles. Since Joe held the WBO title for so long at Super Middleweight, it would seem odd if he never fought for it at Light Heavyweight. Also the linear title is a very significant title to win.
Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Carl Froch - Equally as much a joke as Erdei, never beaten anyone, never faught anyone, brings nothing to the table, next...
Carl Froch is an unbeaten British puncher, if he beats Pascal he will be the WBC Super Middleweight champion. There would be a lot of hype surrounding this fight and it would show that Calzaghe was not afraid to take a big risk.
According to you any opponent he fights from now on is pointless. All of the other fighters on the list that you have dismissed would also add to Calzaghe's reume.

Horse that entire post shows us exactly how narrow-minded you are sometimes.
A second win over Hopkins would secure his legacy further? Erdei? Come on man....

PS Why are you so keen for him to fight again? He's beaten better than the majority of that list, and in the list you include people he's already beaten anyway.

Maybe Horse will die if Calzaghe retires, like some sort of pact with the devil, or something?
If so, thats really weird, how did that happen, then?

You write in another post - calzaghe should retire as you consider he has done it all - do you really believe that?
My feelings are he should retire but thats down to having a lot of money to be able to live very comfortably - not because he has proved everything in the ring.

You don't think that two wins over a great fighter is better than one?
Erdei is the linear and WBO champion. If he is no good, then why doesn't Joe just pick up an easy win over him, and pick up the prestigious linear title in the process.
Captain Hook wrote:PS Why are you so keen for him to fight again? He's beaten better than the majority of that list, and in the list you include people he's already beaten anyway.
Why would I not be keen for one of our greatest fighters to stick around and prove his greatness?

That is not the case. I have no pact with the devil.

My impression of Horse hosting his TV show

Erdei is the linear champion, I am pretty sure he is well known in his own house.

For some reason people always seem to have yet another opponent they'd like Calzaghe to face. When does it end?! When he's knocked out so people can say "I told you he was shit".
Let the guy retire. He beat the best LHW on a close decision in a fight that was less interesting than a one card game of poker. Froch isn't even proven world class yet. The logical step up for Dawson is Hopkins. Erdei isn't even in the top 5 at 175.

It would be absolutely fornicating marvelous
Each week, before you begin your top 30 countdown you stride onto the stage to dispel the latest rumours.
"There have been reports in the papers this week, and im sure that you've seen them, linking me very strongly with the disappearance of Madeline McCann.. I can re-assure you viewers that such reports are nothing short of lies, i have never even been to Portugal, and even if i had, i prefer brunettes anyway "

He'd walk on with Scott Harrison and have him slap a member of the audience every week to keep him in the top 5 of his fecking list.

Some people think Hopkins won. The fight was close enough to warrant a rematch even if everyone will complain about it not being an action fight.
I can understand people moaning about it not being an exciting fight, but I think Bernard would adopt a different approach the second time around. I'd expect Hopkins to at least try to press the action more-so than was the case last April.
Calzaghe knows Hookins took him to the wire (I thought Hopkins won) & that's why I feel there won't be a rematch. Calzaghe may be at the end of his career or very near it, so losing will not be an option for him. I really want to see Hopkins-Calzaghe 2, but I just cannot see Joe granting the rematch!

Joe beat him by at least 2 rounds having been down in the first. The fight was dire, yet you really want to see it that badly?

Why would there be reports every week suggesting that I had done very bad things?

I disagree with you on Calzaghe winning by at least two rounds, but I want to see a rematch because I think Hopkins would beat Calzaghe if they fought again. Might sound silly, but like I say, Hopkins would fight differently. He knows he would have to perform differently second time around.
If Hopkins were to beat Calzaghe, what would do that do for Bernard's already secure legacy?

I think you just answered your question about legacy, but the difference between Pavlik and JC is that JC moves about ten times more and can box. He doesn't rely on power.
Hopkins outboxed Pavlik, we've already seen that he couldn't do that with Calzaghe.
Neither of them shone that night, but Calzaghe nicked it. How so many can think Hopkins' negative tactics won him that fight I will never know.

Hopkins didn't bother to change his approach for the rematch with Taylor, what makes people so sure he'd do it for a Calzaghe rematch?
As for Joe, I say retire. He's had an excellent career, he's presumably a wealthy man, and frankly I don't see how he can lift his legacy above what it'll be anyway, if people are seriously suggesting he fights Erdei.

Fully agreed.
I chose Chad Dawson for the poll. I think Calzaghe would win a comfortable decision against him. Dawson's rated quite highly by most Americans after his win over Tarver. My overall preference is for Calzaghe to retire.
