I am sorry but after his 'Oscar' winning dive against B-Hop and pounding the anvas it is obvious to me the guy wants out when the going gets tough.
He got what he deserved - he was literally picking on a smaller man.
DLH is no ALI - never was and never will be. Holmes and ALI were in the same division wit Holmes being the favourite going in.
If Ali had fought a Middleweight and been pulled out then YES..He wold be a DLH!
He is a cash cow and all these Seniors taking money out of the pot for need to piss off and let the younger fighter come through.

I disagree. He fought and beat a truck full of great guys, and I had him beating Mosley (second fight) and Trinidad as well.
Vargas, Gatti, Quartey, Margarito, Whittaker, Chavez.....etc etc
Some thought he beat Mayweather, though I didn't.

Vargas & Gatti were both damaged goods when Oscar got to them Chavez was at the end of his career along with Whitaker and I wasn't aware he had fought Margarito.

Vargas - DLH fought him AFTER he was crushed and damaged goods. He wantd no part of him before.
Quartey - Oscar kept him out of the ring postponing the fight - Quartey was out of the ring 18 months.Did DLH really win? Oscar refused to give him a rematch!. Refused!!!

He fought him in a dream I had and beat him in 2 :)
Hagler, you're a good poster and I love you like a brother but when it comes to DLH I'll always stick up for him.....

JMM is a better fighter than DLH and there are many others over the last 10-15 years BUT DLH is a Media HO!

Andre Berto for example is a GBP fighter who is now a champion and looks on the cresp of making some big dough. Ortiz last night also, will have a big 2009 I think as will Abner Mares at the older weight.
Fact is - these "seniors" for the most part as still the best in the game. Combined age of 80 is the geniune, legitimate, number #1 and #2 at Light Heavyweight. The young guns tried recently, and failed.
As for DLH "acting" against Hopkins, sorry I don't buy it... that was a beaut. And last night, well sorry, him "quitting" shouldn't even be disputed. The Doctor was concerned, asking DLH if he had headaches, the ref was concerned saying he was going to stop the fight in the 9th anyway next sign of trouble. DLH was pulled out, two rounds too late IMO.
As for him quitting when the going gets tough... seen the Molina, Quartey, and Vargas fights? DLH was rocked or KD (badly) in each of these fights. The Vargas fight was very close on the cards and DLH had a torrid time at the start. Where was the quit? Where was the quit after Mosley dominated the early rounds of their first fight?

I really don't think you can call a 6 time world champion only very good. Lets not forget, 18 months ago - he was beating a great, possibly the greatest of this generation, untill his 34 year old legs caught up with him in the last 3 rounds... but still - a fair few had him winning.
If you remember I asked the question before and after the Mayweather contest - who would win 1997 DLH at 140, or 2007 Mayweather at 140... more people changed their mind after the contest, plumping for DLH.
It could be argued that Hopkins and Pacquiao are the only two fighters to have beaten him, that he hasn't avenged. With the fighters he has faced- you cannot say that a "very good" fighter could manage that.
If Calzaghe is going down as a "great" then DLH is a great.

Agreed, and when talking about DLH only fighting guys who've moved up in weight we should remember at what weight he started his career and at what weight he fought Bernard Hopkins.

You are a big DLH fan, but he is NO SRL but the media make him up tp be a legend. NAH!
He is a fighter - he is supposed to get up and fight back if he can.
He is not the strongest mentally imo.
Hopefully that is the last we see of DLH!

For different reasons I hope so too, whatever DLH does now will damage his legacy. Even if he beats Vernon Forrest at 154 (which I would still favour him to do)... people will say... "well that just shows it wasn't age against Pac man". Kind of like Hopkins has had to suffer with the JC defeat followed by the Pavlik reasons.
As for him being a legend, it depends on the definition. He has been more of a legend, and far better for boxing, than Calzaghe - yet he's been branded one.
If you think "legend" is top ten GOAT only, then no he is not one... if its say top 50 - then he is close, if it is top 100 then he is a legend.
