It would be a real shame for Thai fans and boxing in Thailand if this fight wasnt shown live. I know how frustrating it is when good Irish fights/ers dont get the coverage they deserve.
I see no advantage in RTE holding out on the rights - afterall something is better than nothing. They will be providing a free stream world wide, with the exception of the US and Canada where the rights have been sold so IP's from those countries will be blocked, so hopefully something can be worked out
maybe something will happen between now and then. free-to-air thai tv have televised the vast majority of poonsawat's fights live so it would be crazy to miss this one.
the cable operators have just announced they will be broadcasting abraham v taylor and pavlik v williams but they are weak on the domestic scene.

Of course I am aware of hometown decision - from the age of 5 I even knew that my older brothers were up against it when travelling to fight other local clubs and of course Germany, the location for the Sidorenko fight, has a "special reputation" for hometown decision well before you would have to shoot Ottke in the head, twice, each round - and finish him off with a shovel to even get a draw.
However, I dont think that Ireland has that reputation - infact quite the opposite. As pointed out Dunne was well behind during his fight with Cordoba, Rogan was well robbed is that the only word I could use against Sexton and of course anyone that saw the Maludrottu v Damaen Kelly fight will have been hard pressed not to be heartbroken for the guy.
What I am saying is that its boring just to trot out that cliche without there being any evidence to back it up.
i don't think he was having a pop specifically at ireland, he has never been there and i doubt he has ever seen a fight broadcast from there, or examined judging patterns. he is simply concerned because he is going to another country.

Andy Murray is off the undercard, broke his collarbone and faces a good time out of the ring. No details on how he got the injury. Pity though!

Yes he was injured sparring. Christ knows what they do in sparring to break a collarbone, but there you are.

the thai press are saying he was about six pounds over at the start of the week, which is about right. it's not unusual for thais to lose up to 10 pounds in the last three days although the weather in ireland may make it harder for him to sweat the excess.

I think it is true to say that Thais are notorious for fighting at artificially low weights. Charlie Atkinson used to dispair at the practice but found that it was too deeply ingrained in the thai fight culture to convince them it could often have an adverse impact on a fighter's performance. It will be interesting to see if it plays a part in this fight..

- Managed to pick up Dunne's last fight after the fact and such a tasty war it was with some nice boxing wrinkles tossed in.
Boxing is just shooting it's feet off if it can't get a high end competitive fight like this up for the international audience. Plenty of talent still left in boxing but two bit promoters would rather fight each other than properly promote boxing.

I've £50 0n a Poonsawat KO win and £50 on a Dunne points victory.
However, after much deliberation I am going to go with a Dunne points win.

poonsawat will win by stoppage, probably around the eighth. he will wear dunne down by pinning him to the ropes and attacking the body. don't think dunne will be able to keep up with poonsawat's workrate.
looks like thai fans will be watching it live on the rte website. thai cable tv is showing vitali v arreolla on sunday morning, which is a good fight but they are not supporting their local boxers. shameful really.

If you think Dunne will allow himself to have the ring cut off or to be pinned to the ropes then you need to watch a few more tapes.
Dunne has good footwork and has a good ability turn an opponant and in effect be the matador to the bull.
