all tied up and purse agreed at the WBA. Brian Peters to promote
Re: Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym v Bernard Dunne
good to hear, dunne is very watchable when he's in fights that actually mean something
The winning bid was $120,000 with Peters being the only bidder. Possible dates and places for the fight are September 26th in Dublin, Ireland, October 2nd in Macau, China or October 3rd in New York City

Can't see the logic of Macau. Yes it's within easy reach of Thailand but Thais are not typically travelling supporters. Dublin is the obvious choice, while NYC could draw a decent Irish-American crowd.

Purse bid of $120,000 won it, how does that get shared up?
Isn't Poonsawat also a WBA title holder? does that mean a 50/50 split?

Technically the "super champion" almost vacates the title. He doesn't have to defend it, he doesn't have any mandatory challengers - that's the "regular champion" that has the dubious honour of those commitments.DavidPayne wrote:Will the commentator refer to him as K-rating-daen-ggym or Poon-sa-wat?
Dunne has no choice but to fight Poonsawat or lose his title.
Purse split 55-45 to the champ.

his point is that it doesnt look as easy to pronounce as Rendall Munroe - however, Thai names are pretty easy to pronouce - they are just long.oliverfennell wrote:What's your point?DavidPayne wrote:Will the commentator refer to him as K-rating-daen-ggym or Poon-sa-wat?
Re: Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym v Bernard Dunne
I reckon they will call him Poonsawat. Whatever, let's hope it's put on in Dublin again
Re: Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym v Bernard Dunne

the thais aren't happy with the purse bid situation, apparently their representatives at the meeting weren't allowed to put a bid in....so only Brian Peters' offer went in.

poonsawat (but with a closed consanant at the end)
and his surname just means ''red bull gym'' who are his sponsors

I meant the whole name. I could guess at his first name easily enough. ;;-)lowersmiths wrote:just how it is spelt

Re: Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym v Bernard Dunne
I prefer his birth name, Prakorb Udomna.

the surname isn't a surname in the western sense, so nobody uses them to address boxers in thailand. they are simply the sponsor's name.
but if you did want to say it, it's pronounced gratting (bull) deng (red) gym
