Yes, there aren't any heavyweights out there these days who fight with that sort of intensity and sustained output. Holyfield was an absolute monster. It's pretty incredible that Foreman was able to go the distance with him at such an advanced age - and he had his moments too. What a fight that would have been if they were both in their primes. Would have been an absolute tear up for certain.

The problem with the cross arm defense is that you're slow to get off power punches. You can jab effectively with it and escape a lot of punishment, but you can't mount offense from it like you'd want to.

Probably right James, I was thinking Holyfield was a bit Frazieresque but like you say he was probably too savvy to stand toe to toe with Foreman.

Frazier only new one way to fight, which was to come barelling in and apply pressure, which against Foreman, was like trying to derail a freight train with your head.

Foreman said he was actually terrified of frazier, because he was worried about copping one of those big left hooks, so he decided to try and stop him early.

Toney was sublime against that version of Holyfield but it is also worth remembering that Holyfield was 42 at the time and shot to bits.

Wouldn't be surprised if Kabayel and Bakole, two mentioned as potential Fury opponents are the same two considered by Hearn. Joshua has sparred them both.

I suspected a while ago Hearn/Joshua didn't want Whyte AND Wilder, and Hearn seems to be confirming that now.

If they lock in Wilder for December, Joshua will take a very safe fight in September and Hearn has Whyte on the hook with a lowball offer for now, that he will only ramp up if the Wilder fight falls over.
