Joe Gallagher (and I’ve facetiously took the piss out of him and slagged the odd thing he’s said off over the years) is absolutely fvcking brilliant on the radio. His ability to very quickly and analytically but concisely describe the exact order of what happened, and how, is fantastic.
Thought exactly that.
I started to understand why he IS such a good trainer for the first time and I've always wondered !
I recall absolutely brilliant corner contributions for Corolla, for example, but a couple of dubious ones with Quigg too.
But he always did seem a good, analytical and concise communicator

That eye/cheek is serious.
I think good stoppage, Eubank had his chance after the first where he was wobbly.
Nah that'll be gone by breakfast and just leave a black eye.

I think I'd agree. RJJ was blessed with something that I don't think you can teach to everyone and it looks like he's tried to teach it and Eubank just can't pull it off, leaving him exposed.

Dont think Eubank should've been allowed to continue after the first knockdown but still reckon he should've been given a count after the second one, doubt he would've been able to recover but seems like maybe ref maybe instantly regretted letting Eubank fight on after the first one

Hard to say he was wrong to call it off when CEJ didn't even know the fight was over

Classy in the end from both - talked down the trash.
I wonder if CEJ wants his rematch ?
Reminds me a lot of Haye vs Bellew.
Scouser moving up to fight some1 bigger and better, but they'd seen something we hadn't and got an upset early stoppage.

He was trying to shoulder roll and Smith was landing a hook almost every time, and Eubank trying to pick shots from the hip- he ain't quick enough!
Eubank used to be a come forward, gym rat volume guy with enough chin to last, he was never much more. I think losing that has been detrimental.

Smith isn't a monster puncher, he can put them together well enough, but no one expected that or predicted it.
I tend to think messing around with the weight like Eubank has been doing has had too much of a negative effect. We've seen this time and time again. All the talk from Sr make a lot more sense now. He's effectively had two camps getting down to an unhealthy weight. He's taken bigger shots from bigger hitters than Smith and not even flinched.
Makes me think Benn could have taken him out with even more of a weight drain in place and a rehydration clause. Benn being on the Eggs too.
Wonder if he'll take the rematch.

Roy isn't trying to make him like himself though. He was definitely trying to make him box more and Eubank was looking alright in there until he got hit. His punch resistance has just gone. I totally agree that Roy was all natural talent. Unbeatable in his prime at 160 and 168 and the first few fights at 175. Technicans like Hopkins and Toney couldn't land a glove and couldn't get near him really and it was down to athleticism not technical boxing ability. Eubank boxing more did prolong his career a bit. I'm not sure why his chin just imploded. Messing around making whatever weight for the Conor fight was not a smart move. Eubank Sr. looks a lot more vindicated right now. He is probably a hard dad to have but ultimately he has forgotten more about boxing than we all know.

The most upsetting bit about this whole saga was seeing that CEJ has a bullshit Argos pool table in his house during one of the build up shows

Indeed, RJJ was a vanity choice for Eubank.
Stylistically guys like Virgil Hill or Roger Mayweather can reconfigure a fighter to the dark arts and make them more efficient in many ways. Nobody is ever going to learn to fight like RJJ did, and trying it is a recipe for disaster.

Didn't think he was wrong to call it off , as I said I doubt Eubank would've been fit to continue anyway, especially after jumping back up instead of taking a knee for the mandatory, I just think after Victor Loughlans judgment for the first KD then maybe give Eubank all the time to recover, hence the reason I think ref might have known he should've stopped it first time

Imagine how confident Beefy will be if they rematch.
He knows he can hurt him, he knows he can catch him in the shoulder rolls, and he has felt Eubank's straight right hand and uppercut.

Should have been stopped after the first KD for me.

Moving up and down in weight has destroyed his punch resistance.
