Quite hilarious the IBF would send over a senile old chap in his 80's to judge a world title fight, and the IBF official he handed his card to after each round, even when giving Lee a 10-8 round after he'd been knocked over, STILL didn't realise anything was amiss...just..wow.

Even funnier was the BONE HEADED announcer John McDonnell, with a face like a slapped arse, huffily reading the scores in a manner to show everyone how much HE disapproved of this OUTRAGE...the feckless baboon.

Anyone know what the bookies have done about this? It was announced as a split decision win which might have wrongly cost people money and also given a few others an undeserved win.

Has the result been changed to a UD?

I guess the judge couldn't read either as both fighters had their names in big letters on their waistlines!

This sounds like a massive mistake by the judge. However, the official receiving the cards and collating the scores can't do anything about it. You can't go over and have any interaction with the judge during the fight, however bizarre the scoring may be. It is down to the judge to get it right, not to an official who is collating the cards to start walking round the ring to talk to judges - the whole point is that judges judge the whole fight without any input or interference from anyone. As for whether the score should be switched round after the event, that's a separate (and very valid) point. Either way, glad it did not cost Burnett the title.

PS - depressing to read the repeated references on this thread to "automatic 10-8 round", There have been many threads pointing out there is no such thing, and never has been.

PPS - I did like the "Oirland" too! On that note, what qualification does a city need to be announced as "The great city of..."? Is it as simple as just being a city where televised boxing is happening?

IBF have just admitted the scorecard was wrong.

Who actually has the power to change the official result? The IBF statement reads to me like them saying it should have been a UD, not that it is now a UD. Changing the result means you're technically changing the score after the fact...

I think they should have ring card girls in the ring with boards with each boxers name and big arrows following each boxer during the rounds.
This should be compulsory for the judges when they reach ninety.
Or shorten the fights to 3 x 2 minutes round, so they don't fall asleep.
Don't some governing bodies take on board email suggestion for committee meeting agendas ?. I might put these forward. If they do it will be compulsory for them to discuss these suggestions and minute the actions !.

It's worth a try. Their rules probably have something in there that states they only pay out on announced result. They will have already paid out on split decision.
