Kiko was having more and more success as the fight was going on. He was landing more frequently and some pretty flush shots but they were bouncing off Galahads chin. If you watch the fight back with a keen eye on Kikos work, you can definitely see him landing some good shots in the 2 rounds preceding the KO. I was getting a little worried for Galahad because he didn't look great defensively and I could see Kiko landing more and more. The narrative is going to be that it was a lucky punch but I don't think it was. Kiko was starting to get to Galahad more and more.
Fair play to Kiko but it has to be one of the most embarrassing losses by a British world champ. Rendall Munroe was outpointing Kiko relatively comfortably 13 years ago. In 2021, Galahad gets starched by him.
Galahad isn't the first world champ to get caught by a big shot and stopped.
Complacency is a constant danger, especially when you're winning a fight against a substandard opponent.
Def, he won against Dickens at a canter and was doing the same against Martinez too.
You can also say that offensively Ingle fighters are fantastic when on top, but horribly negative when they dont have that confidence, Nelson, Witter, Galahad v Warrington.
Perhaps he doesnt have great confidence in his chin and it will be better to find a balance between his offensive and defensive work.

I wonder if Galahad struggling with weight issues was the reason for his loss?
He looked pretty huge on the night too.
I would expect him to win if there is a rematch, but if not, I see Galahad going to Super-Feather.

Any other examples of fighters KO'd standing? Price vs Povetkin comes to mind. Gatti vs Gamache I suppose but he Gamache was on his way down.

A helluva fight, a great KO. Galahad was outboxing Martinez early on, but Kiko kept coming and eventually got to the Kid. The swing to end the 5th round was spectacular as hell. And then the same damn haymaker to open the 6th! Sometimes a lightning strikes twice on the same place. A candidate for a kayo of the year alongside with Rosado's masterpiece against the Bully.

One of the unlikeliest results we’ve seen in a long time. But it does make you wonder, with the rumours swirling around old man Kiko Martinez.
Did we see a heartwarming KO by a huge underdog ?
or did we see a brutal knockout by a drug cheat?
Who the hell knows these days..
The cameras closed in on Margarito ringside in America Saturday night, with the commentators justifiably calling him out as a cheat….like he’s the only one…

Galahad is also a cheat. I find Kiko Martinez to be an obvious example of a drug cheat. But, Galahad didn't box well and was there to be taken. It would kinda be poetic justice if a drug cheat KO'd another drug cheat, although I'd prefer it if Kiko was clean.
