It’s sad in a way that more journalists aren’t running with that rather than just more or less printing the press release. Gareth Davies didn’t even raise it as a thought in his head. What the hell do the WBC know about the British food chain?

Couldn’t agree more mate, it’s the ‘smoking gun’ here and any journo worth their salt should be pursuing this as THE line of enquiry.

Not sure about now, but yes he had a decent balance of casuals and hard core boxing fans I believe.
He was entertaining to watch against a carefully selected opponent, and was making a decent living while avoiding any serious challenges.

No worries. I think this is the 3rd interview he’s done with SecondsOut on Benn’s drugs thing. Each have been really interesting as few know drugs in boxing better than him.

A fair bit so it’s hard to summarise.

The big takeaway from me is that Benn seemingly hasn’t had a hair follicle test done which would have gone a long way to rule out the clomiphene being used to boost testosterone post steroid cycle.

For me the concealment of the positive tests is the real smoking gun though.

They will ‘explain’ the others way with bluff and science, but the fact they hid tests is an immutable fact.

Yeah, it was a really interesting interview. If they do another one in a few months it will be a good listen. Another takeaway that doesn't seem general knowledge is the WBC ruling was purely in relation to that first failed test. Now the reasoning for that appears to be that for that test Benn was in the WBC 'Clean Boxing' program, which is not strict liability like UKAD and USADA etc, so it's effectively a loophole the WBC can use as an athlete therefore isn't strictly liable for what they put in their mouth. But the second test wasn't included as it wasn't under this Clean Boxing program, but an actual VADA agreement for an upcoming fight. So in a nutshell the WBC only cleared him for the one failed test, but want everyone to assume it was for both.

He interviewee think's Hearn and Benn likely venue shopping for the Pacman fight.

And also basically highlighted the nonsense that until 3 weeks ago the WBC was only considering the lab contamination defence which they didn't like, but that had been going on and on for 3 or 4 months. Then literally only 3 weeks ago Benn's team submitted this diet plan - is it 60 eggs a day, maybe we'll never know! Lol - and then in 3 weeks the WBC have assessed this so-called evidence and rushed out their verdict.

Benn has lost 10-8 to everyone he's replied to

I'm yet to see a single post or tweet in defense of Benn, pretty damning, think the cheating label is gonna hinder more than any other fighter, maybe ever, especially if he pies off the BBBC

I know there’s not much more to this than the WBC wants some backhanders and some future 3% of purses, and Eddie Hearn eyeing up a potentially lucrative Manny Pacquiao fight in Saudi or wherever, but how is it the WBC have returned Benn to their rankings if they didn’t actually address the second failed test?

The other thing I remember now from the Danny Flexon interview with Gabriel Montoya, is the suggestion that Gabriel had from a named source that if Hearn had pushed through the Eubank/Conor Benn fight in the States at the time news of the second failed test became public knowledge, he was in danger of being black-balled from promoting again in the United States.

I can only think that Barry’s fatherly advice would be just to cut Conor loose now as he’s a dangerous liability.

Daily Mail done an article on Benn barely mentioning eggs in his GQ interview last year. Good to see 99% of people have seen straight through it.

They should get him in with Spence, his career will be ended.

Notorious cheats name checked in the interview were;

Jean Pascal - who he really seemed to dislike - twice failed tests for EPO, the blood oxygenating wonder drug that used to propel cyclists around 3 weeks of the Tour De France. And who is about to get yet another undeserved world title fight.

Shane Mosley taking off in the second half of the first De La Hoya fight - EPO again.

And Lamont Peterson, who to this day insists he was set up and they switched his sample with Amir Khan! Lol
