Dubois fought out of his skin, but the reality is - He got stopped and against a figher who's output was defined by his jab. 80% in fact.
Maybe if he could move his head, Dubois could have a good shot at being something in the heavyweight division.
He was just 23 years old. At that age Joyce, Joshua and Usyk hadn’t had one pro fight.
If he's not learned to slip a jab by now, it's not going to happen at this stage.
Are you referring to Joshua?

Dubois was the clear favourite in this fight, our very own posters thought it. People like to make excuses now about the fight, but there has been zero call out from team Dubois for a rematch. After all he was still in the fight and has seasoned a lot since then, so why not. Just silence, same as team Fury.
lol

he slips a jab much better than Dubois, though that isn't hard.

I find that surprising actually, that he was favourite. Although I guess up to that point, he had looked pretty devastating.

at the time JJ had a relatively low profile and not really fighting any top level opponents whilst DDD was just smashing thru all comers so its not such a surprise he was the favourite .

Yes, I guess in hindsight it seems ridiculous, but the perception was very different back then, Joyce was still quite unproven.
I don't know if I made any predictions at the time, might have a look to see whether I posted on it.

3/1 on Joyce seems generous to me. I think if I were a betting man I’d back him quite heavily at those odds.
Joyce to win in rounds 7-12 is 9/1. I'm tempted by those odds. Is he being heavily overlooked here?
joshj909 wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 18:19
In my eyes a 7-12 stoppage for Joyce is the most likely thing to happen which is why I'm not betting on it, as it never happens the way I foresee it

“Team Dubois” has changed since then and he is first in line for a crack at Usyk who has the belts.

Really I'd of liked to have seen Joyce against the likes of Whyte and Chisora (not now, but earlier in his career) to have properly gauged him. It's great and grand he's hyperactive, at least in comparison to the rest of the field, and finally facing name value opponents but I'd still argue that we're in such a weak era of heavyweights that he's basically European level but being ranked as world level.
I said before, clearly he's better than Dubois and Hrgovic so it's a shame he's not getting first crack at Usyk. I just think he'd lose to Fury and Usyk. His best shot would be Joshua and Wilder at this point.
Dubois was ahead on two judges’ cards before he was stopped with eye damage against Joyce.
Ridiculous scorecards tbf

If Fury says there is no deal in place I have to believe hes telling the truth. Because everybody else including Wilder, Joshua, etc would be talking about it happening.

Sometimes boxers don’t like talking about deals whe they’re true.
They don’t like promoters or managers talking about it.
They want to be the first to announce something.
Who knows..

I very much doubt any of it will happen.
I've lost virtually all interest in the heavyweight division and the sport of boxing itself. There's no point in discussing men and women who only fight once or twice a year and most of the time they fight bums instead of who they should be fighting.
By the time any of these fights are made all be passed their primes and it will never settle the question of who really was the best in their prime.
