Whyte deserved that. See when you drop a guy, go for the finish, arrogant fool.
I disagree. Povetkin wasn’t hurt at all from the first knockdown and true second knockdown happened with 15 seconds left in the round. He then got ironed out within 30’seconds the start of the following round.
If that was AJ for a world title, Whyte drops him.... think be just stands off. No chance, he didn't take it seriously enough to get the finish and got what he deserved.

hughie v whyte who you pick for that , i not saying world beater i am saying thats there leavel
Whyte for sure, level above
why though he been built up so much whyte, his chisora fights where close even lost the the 1st, that is againgst an almost retired del boy
He'd outwork Hughie and win a comfy decision. Hughie doesnt have the power or offensive committment to exploit Whyte's vulnerability either.
Chis has been on one of his best runs since fighting Whyte

I don’t want to be wise after the fight, but I never thought Whyte was close to being world class, he’s more of a gatekeeper to world class imo. He’s stepped up twice and been ko’d twice; he’d get outclassed by Fury and ko’d badly by AJ (again).
Who are world class do you think?

IMO he's world class in a VERY VERY weak era at Heavyweight

Good question, I have a particularly low opinion of the current heavyweight division

Definitely Fury and AJ, and I would have historically said Pov although I think he’s past it despite winning tonight. Wilder is dogs!t, so I guess it’s just those 2

Yeah he just about fumbles through Parker, Chisora, Rivas level guys, with scares, and gets laid clean out by AJ and Pov. He has no chance versus Fury or AJ and I think Wilder with his one punch repertoire would knock him dead. One uninteresting contender removed from the overcrowded title scene.

Said all along he’s a European level brawler. Hopefully we can move on in the HW division without him.

"I can't quite believe it," Hearn said. "When the punch landed, I felt like I was in some dream.
"The fight was over, virtually, Povetkin hadn't started well, I thought Dillian Whyte was measuring up.
"He had a great finish to the round when he knocked Povetkin down. I felt that it was over, but this is the drama of the sport, this is the drama of heavyweight boxing. One punch can change everything."

If there's a rematch, Whyte will be KOed again.

Is a rematch clause out the window if the winner retires. Or does he have to fight again no matter what legally.

When it’s a clean win by KO, why do a rematch? He got cleaned out. Doesn’t matter what the cards say before a KO if you get KTFO.

Well, sometimes there can be a point in it, maybe even here, if to dig deeper, but the other outcome isn't just likely with everything we know about these two guys.

Have a rematch, it'll only delay the mandatory
Eddie over played his hand and ended up with a high card

Agreed. I compared him to Gary mason in the pre fight thread, both good solid euro level operators.
If Whyte fights Fury he gets a prolonged career changing beatdown
