I'm more generous to Joshua's performance than most, with a couple caveats: his big shots were infrequent enough to highlight his gunshyness in the main; and once again he sought instruction on things that should be obvious to an experienced boxer.

But he's still a fantastic athlete in a weak division, and managed a reasonable pace while heavy in his mid 30s. Franklin's clearly tough and I think people might be sleeping on that aspect; a gatekeeper by talent but not desire. Sure he's a plodder, and sure Whyte hurt him more than AJ when he staggered him, but he was fatter then and plenty of us felt he shaded it. There's no doubt AJ outpointed him with rounds to spare. And re: shorter opponents, Takam was a hard night for him in his mental prime.

I'd keep him away from Wilder until the end of his career, else it could end on a single punch. But that said, I would make him favourite. And he doesn't need Joyce next, he needs Fury. That's the fight to get them both fired up, and I actually fancy Fury hasn't fought as good an all-rounder since Wlad, while Joshua's fresh from losing to the most skilful heavy. I'd give him a chance.

Bunce and Bellew. Never has any man wanted more to be the one stepping in and big-boys-pants style ‘calm’ things down, and seldom has the calmee been easier placated than Bellew, ‘restrained’ by an overweight 50something.

Would anyone on earth believe Bunce could restrain Bellew if Tony really wanted a row? ffs. Bunce will have replayed his masterful intervention in his head on a loop for the past 18 hours

Thats what people seem to miss - the quality of the opposition between Fury and AJ is huge. Fury got put on the canvass by a crude - big punching - guy who telegraphs everything; their fight lacked almost any skill, and was a mess like you`d see outside a pub for most of it. Fury then faced the fragile Whyte who strangely didn`t seem fired up at all .. thats not good preparation.

Aj as we know faced Usyk, and whilst still losing, he faired better which demonstrated he had learned something. Franklin, its got to be said, came to win, and AJ safely out boxed him. Whilst not what the crowd wanted - it was a clear and safe win where AJ was still pushed.

I genuinely believe Wilder would knock Usyk out. He’s hittable. Round nine against AJ was alarming.

The old version of AJ would definitely have had a good shot against Fury, but he's far too tentative now, and that leaves Fury too much time and space.

Fury will absolutely spatter him.

I remember seeing Bellew (during his heavy set Cruiserweight days)being 'held back' by 4ft Dave Coldwell while arguing with Cleverly, loves a bit of fake beef does Tony.

I think that round 9 has been over egged. From what I saw Usyk took almost all those shots on the gloves and was never in any serious trouble.

I don’t think he was in trouble but looked panicked.

He was hurt, lost of control of the fight for the only time in 24 rounds but worked his way around the issue almost immediately.

Maybe a grudge match with Whyte could do him good, a tasty build-up and AJ relies on his 'roadman' spirit, rather than his boxing ability. I doubt he'd be as gun shy if he faced Whyte, and stopping him again could do his confidence some good.
