I go on the channel as I’m asked to. I really say what I like. I work 60 hours a week minimum so don’t prepare or speak to him about what to say, he’s never asked me to say x or not say y. I really don’t think I’d be censored if we differed in opinions. I’m not trying to become a voice on boxing I go on as I enjoy talking about boxing. No more no less. You are however of course entitled to your opinion and I support that fully. You won’t insult me I’m happy to take any digs it’s only online it’s not real life.
Hi Sean, I am not insulting you, just noting that your default is to agree to anything Porky says, not an insult but a factual comment. Thank you for your reply though and your appreciation of Terry who you said in another thread you would 'rather listen to white noise' than listening to him, but anyway, I have said my bit no further comment and I wish you all the best. I'll be back in another two years :TU:

I’ve come through care homes and nonces and called it out as a child and fought back. With dire consequences for my own health. If you think I’m a yes man you don’t know but I don’t expect you to. You don’t know my journey at all. I’ve endured more than you ever will. But nonetheless you can keep piping up it’s a democracy. I’m with Rousseau on this despite my views on your accuracy.

Ok if you insist on going on, with respect, I don't care less what you've been through and you don't know what I've been through, but none of that matters. The point I've raised has been raised by others, if you want to keep being a yes man for Porky, because he'd cut you off otherwise, crack on pal.

Thanks a lot Coco. Really appreciate it. Like I say I do it for a laugh as apart from that it’s just work and looking after my daughter as she’s got a profound disability so me being able to waffle on about boxing is really relaxing for me as it’s a proper break. I get a lot out of it, and am very grateful if anyone else enjoys it.

Saying that everyone will get a break from me soon as I finish work for 2 weeks after this Friday and am flying to Crete with the family for our first proper holiday since 2019. Booked it when I got diagnosed and said I’ll be healthy by then and I am so planning to totally switch off and have proper family time. The wife booked it so it’s cost an arm and a leg (she knows I’d have booked a 2 star dump) so we are super looking forward to it. Already feeling guilty for leaving the cats but have a neighbour who is cat mad looking after them, but they’ll definitely be plotting revenge while we are away. Funny thing has been showing the neighbour the hedgehog care routine as we have 5 who live in our garage and they take as much looking after as the cats the spikey little dudes.

Nor should you care, you owe me nothing, not even courtesy. It’s all good. But every time you call me a yes man I’ll respond. I’m no person’s yes man. I’m on here under my own name and a quick Google reveals many times when I’ve called things out professionally that were not good for my own progression. But did it regardless whether it was in politics, work or community work. I won’t ever not respond to anyone alleging I’m a yes man. You’re here with a few posts and a number for a username. Firstly, thank you for your valuable contribution to the channel of Porky's Corner. I think you've been a great guest and are clearly a very likeable young man with wonderful manners. Now, Porky doesn't seem to treat you as rudely as he has some of his other guests (e.g. Andy's Cavern), but there have been times where you have demonstrated some degree of patience and restraint. Porky appears to have that gene where he treats people differently in accordance with their perceived status. As a large man who is wonderfully quick-witted, he probably dared not push your buttons too much, and he seems to be on particularly friendly terms with you.

Others have said that you agree with everything Porky says. I get that. I have to admit that I have also felt that, but there has been the odd occasion where you have stopped him in his tracks to disagree and I did enjoy that. I'm thinking re: Dave Allen, or something. It's hard to remember everything that has been said, but you've had your moments where you've disagreed and he has sort of stopped in his tracks a bit.

I've only really got a couple of points to make regarding your contribution, Sean, that might be interpreted as criticisms. Firstly, I don't know if you've been watching too much Peter and Hughie Fury - I know you keep well up to date with professional boxing and I don't know how you do it with your busy schedule - but the amount of times you've recently been saying "like I say" has been comical. Even when you've not addressed the topic in the video or, to my recollection, previously, you've still been saying "like I say". I can't remember you doing this until recently so I'm not sure if it's a recent tick. You are an articulate young man and at times surprisingly eloquent with your humour, so this may just be a recent tick.

The second thing is the Usyk Verhoeven (Ver-ho-even) aftermath. I thought the post-fight analysis was absolutely shocking and you both portrayed yourselves as Usyk fanboys. My opinion doesn't matter and there's no point going into the nuts and bolts of it; it was only one thing I wanted to raise. Porky and/or yourself mentioned things along the lines of "the referee is the one in there" and "the judges had it to Usyk and they know better than some couch potatoes" etc. Things like that. It's as if you do not criticise referees and judges multiple times per month! You both looked like absolute hypocrites. I couldn't believe what I was listening to. I actually laughed listening to it.

However, it's all in good fun. I would be bored stiff if I just agreed with everything that was said. I think you've been the best contributor to Porky's corner and at one point about a month ago it was yourself who was holding the entire enterprise together. Nobody else was coming on. You had been through your health problems and you seem to work from morning until night, so an enormous amount of credit has to be given to you. Not only that, you often do the two parters at full-length. Porky has a lot to be thankful to you for and if you are indeed stepping back, for whatever reason, that will be a big loss to the channel. I am not sure the exact reason why you can't pop on now and then instead of leaving indefinitely, but thanks a lot for the entertainment, Sean. You've got an absolutely wicked sense of humour and delivery. There have been times i've just sat there and replayed what you've said because I've enjoyed it that much. I think I speak for all of the regular listeners in my delight that you have overcome these health issues. I hope it still is that way and stays that way.

As for Porky's Corner, it is just about the only boxing channel that I view/listen to. Without a doubt, it is entertaining. It is funny. It's also informative. I don't think anyone can grumble about the channel. Porky has to be given a lot of credit that. However, the bloke has a skin thinner than rice paper and his ego is gargantuan. I was blocked from commenting on the channel after I pointed out the lack of logic in something Porky kept saying about world title belts. Porky loves an echo chamber.

It is also my belief that he does not read out any or many of the questions he receives via e-mail. I sent him numerous well thought out questions and none of them were read. This "Jonathan" character appears to me to be a fictitious character and pseudonym of Porky. During a time where I sent about three e-mails within the space of a week, Porky said on the channel that he wasn't manning his e-mails any longer and that it was some assistant (can't remember if it was this Jonathan character or not).

Porky's stance on doping in boxing is particularly amusing. Even Terry, despite his interview with Larry Olubamiwo, is also inconsistent. Terry also seems to have had personal experience with those in rugby and so on. The flip-flopping is laughable. I think that Sean has alluded to his suspected ubiquity of doping in boxing quite a few times recently, which I give him credit for. Porky, who will tear into "drug cheats" on a consistent basis, had me flabbergasted recently as he sycophantically praised Barry Awad without mention of his doping violation. Porky also seems to change his opinion on people in boxing if they've been in contact with him and nice to him. Dominic Ingle is one that I suspect has spoken to him at some point relatively recently given his u-turn on "Flex". Some of the lack of knowledge from some of the guests is quite laughable when we account for how strongly they hold their opinions. "Asbo" a couple of months ago said something when referring to Billy Joe Saunders that he "only took a nasal spray". He doesn't have the first clue about doping. If you don't have a clue what you're talking about, maybe don't speak about it so passionately as you will look a bit of a fool.

A final point is how Porky goes on about greed and so on. To me, that is laughable given that he always refers to what car he or others are driving and seems to be quite materialistic. He also promoted "yooman nootrients" on the channel, which was/is laughable. I'd be surprised if it's still afloat. I read every word on its website and the "scientific backing" was something that a first or second year undergraduate would laugh at. To your credit, Sean, you've often gone the other way and stuck up for those looking to maximise their earnings (i.e. promoters and boxers - the Fury/Joshua saga springs to mind).

Still, a great channel that always makes me smile and laugh. Credit to all contributors and to Porky himself. He clearly has made his presence known in British boxing.

After Sean's departure I'll still tune into Porky but not as often. Terry is good value but the others don't offer much to spend an hour listening to.
Don't mind the Nuthouse Podcast and Dan Rafael and Michael Montero (on the rare occasion he can get the time) are other favourites.
Thanks again Sean and hope you're sticking around here for the foreseeable.

There's so much in that book about just being a man really, even though he's talking about weights. When you think about the kind of crazed voices that now have a direct line into young men's minds, society could do a lot worse than signposting towards books like this. Simpler times and much better for it.
