I don't know what goes on in Booth's gym, because it's like some kind of dark arts harry potter academy with a pound shop svengali at the helm.
Fact is Booth was the one pushing for the Ava fight, even 2 years ago. It's no on else's fault that his fighter wasn't ready but Booth's. It was his call and his training that has failed his fighter, but by all means say how wonderful a trainer he is for throwing the towel in.
There are a lot of bad habits in that gym, along with a certain personality trait. Arrogance seems to be the one. I don't think Josh could believe that someone had the audacity to hit him back and rough him up. He's had as Hearn put it, an ego check.
Glad you agree ,,, Now for people who are lets say just fans , with no experience , I will try and explain it a differnt way ,,, When i was working , at the end of my working carreer has a builder , i was doing a lot of very high end renovation work , now i charged a lot for this work , and also PAYED a lot for good tradesman .
Now i know this is different but bear with me .
Now i would pay a carpenter good money to do a second fix and say put in good quality wood , I might come across a dent in the wood , from a hammer hit ,,, now before its painted i would say to said carpenter get it out , we cannott charge what were charging to leave a customer with a big dent in his wood , more often than not that carpenter would say we have to replace it ,, My answer would be YOU PAY FOR IT ,, there would often be an heated discusion , which would result in me saying your on top money your a celebrity carpenter , but you don't know how to fix it , FOOK off i'll fix it , then i would not use that subbie again , heh, he would of done a good job , but was'nt a tradesman , because a tradesmen would off known .
Now move on i never spotted that hammer mark , but my painter did , he would say what do we do here , and i would say , we get rid of the dent , he would scratch his head and say HOW ,,, I would role my eyes and say your the tradesmen , you tell me ,, He would say how , and i would say don't worry i'll fix it it won't be there in the morning ,
The following week , i would drop there prices and say , average carpemnter / painter charge, is 50 bucks an hour i'm paying you 80 bucks an hour because your supposed to be good , you tell me you are , but up till now your only doing what everyone else does , Why should i pay the extra , just cos you and your admirers think your great
Fo r the extra money i want someone who knows what to do with the dent , i want a painter who knows how to treat that sulphide stain or water stain , i want an expert , after all i'm paying for it .
Bring it back to boxing , you want a trainer who can spot every mistake and fix every mistake within a select time frame . Celebrity trainers are like celebrity carpenters or painters , they talk a good game , and have hero worshippers talk them up , but when push comes to shove there no better than most others , and quite often worse, because they don't have the years and years of coaching lads from Wo to Go .
Just in case your wondering ,, you would iron / steam , out the hammer dent , Or hit the sulphide stain with a metho based shellac before painting ,, there ya go a bit of useless info for the home renovator , giving my secrets away
But seriously i really don't think you just say to yourself one day ,, I know , i'm gonna be a boxer cos my dad was , you learn to box its an apprentaship , , kids who watched there dad , brother , uncle from an early age , pick things up , but not enough to say i'm a boxer without doing that learning under a coach .
Now its the same for trainers , you don't say , Heh , i'm gonna be a trainer cos my dad boxed and i watched him train , or because i had 45 ameteur fights ,, You go and become a helper in a gym , then progress to being the chief assistan in the gym , you watch , learn and pinch every idea you can , then you start out training kids , and if you are lucky you work with pro's but the main thing is YOU LEARN from the people around you , ... Lots of these celebrity trainers just go from start to the top and just never learnt to have the eye , and without the eye ,,, you will never know whats going wrong or how to fix it ,
