Re: Round-By-Round - Terry Flanagan (c) vs. Petr Petrov - April 8th 2017

Thought 2 of the cards were wide but fair result in the end.
I agreed with the 118-110 card personally though I could see a few more rounds for Petrov in there. Flanagan undoubtedly deserved it.Neil Gee wrote:Thought 2 of the cards were wide but fair result in the end.
Me too.Neil Gee wrote:I only give Petrov 3 rounds with 1 even.
I gave Petrov 2 rounds - no robbery hereskanksta wrote:Me too.Neil Gee wrote:I only give Petrov 3 rounds with 1 even.
Petrov was competitive throughout but he didn't really win any rounds clearly. I found myself giving him every 4th round cos he'd been so close in the previous 3.
Don't think 120-108 is crooked
He had Flanagan and Petrov mixed up for the first 4 roundsrossij8 wrote:I gave Petrov 2 rounds - no robbery hereskanksta wrote:Me too.Neil Gee wrote:I only give Petrov 3 rounds with 1 even.

Surprised, O' Connor only gave it by 4
Why? The result would have been the same if it was stopped as it wasn't ruled to be from a clash of heads.mrbishi wrote:Lockett fucked it there, he should have let it be stopped on cuts.
Pretty much the same as you are on the board whilst Horse is typing his BS. Warrior you are the TOC of Moderators. Where is The Law when you need him.MightyWarrior wrote:effing referee was standing right there staring at the head butt that caused the damage
Ouch, fair point, I don't read all threads so missed the comments re Horse about GL, till now, obv not on at all - message me in future if there's no action. What does TOC mean ? Not flattering I'm sureRealistic wrote:Pretty much the same as you are on the board whilst Horse is typing his BS. Warrior you are the TOC of Moderators. So you assumed correctly.
Again for clarity members have been banned for FAR LESS than Horses comments. The guy is a menace and need to be dealt with.
I've been to about 3 Flanagan fights and his dad has been completely off his tits pissed every timeStuffs wrote:I defended Frank and the card to the hilt in the week but it was virtually empty all night. Essentially down to a quarter of the arena not cordoned off and that was only about 75% full at peak. Most left after Williams-Smith.
The whole thing had that "rough round the edges" feel Frank seems to provide. Felt a lot like being at a small hall show with people showing next to no interest in fights that weren't "their" fighter. Obligatory crowd fight count was 3.
VIP was decent, but I'd have felt robbed had i actually paid for them.
Some pretty big gaps in the running, but the VIP Bar was miles away from the seats and you can't take a drink out of it. Could have at least had telly's in their spouses can see what's happening outside, so you had to pick your times quite carefully. Then again, it shut at 9ish anyway.
I hope on TV it was a lot better, but internally it lacked the fluidity and slickness and organisation Eddie offers.
Some interesting characters sat nearby. Big props to the unfortunate security guard who had to deal with some tart constantly complaining about people standing (when there wasn't even a fight on), Terry Flanagans Dad who was completely off his tits pissed, and Dave Coldwell who was decent chap.
Fights themselves, missed some of the early mismatches cos was having a meal.and lost track of time.
Dubois' opponent looked picked from the crowd 10mims prior. Catterall upped his game since last time and made it fairly one sided. Mason Cartwright's win was short but i liked what I saw. It's a shame Adams lacks power because she should have finished the other lady with ease. Petrov brought absolutely nothing and was essentially a moving heavy bag. Smith can absolutely do one. I had him down as winning 2 rounds when it was called off. Williams corner was on the opposite side so couldn't see what or why at the time, but he never looked in much trouble barring the last one prior to the pull out. Smith's face was a state too, and I wish it would have gone on. The rest of the Smiths - Crusty, Fatboy and Hobbit - giving it the big bollocks to the crowd too didn't help the growing aggro.
Overall 7/10. Mainly for free drink and a decent seat.
I have been one saying how high I rate him in this forum for years but he needs a big fight to see the best of him. I can understand the comment though.Boxing Prospect wrote:Time to accept Flanagan aint all that... He should avoid the likes of Linares, Garcia, Commey, Shafikov and Easter. Can't disagree too much I was there in the first tier. For me I left it really late to get tickets because of Frank pulling fights.Stuffs wrote:I defended Frank and the card to the hilt in the week but it was virtually empty all night.
