Manny paquiao is not an olympian though, and neither is he a footballer, and I do believe he has said he is willing to do random urine test's pretty much any time, just not blood test's so close to the fight as he feels and I think quite rightly that it could weaken him.
No fighter in the past has had to do random olympic style blood testing and neither should pac have to, unless it's introduced as a rule by the boxing commision.
Also pac has passed every test he's ever done with flying colours, he's legacy and reputation is still well intact imo...

It's about principle for me.
If Mayweather and his cronies called me a cheat, and then demanded i take tests away from the standard procedure, i'd tell him to go fvck himself.
Mayweather is an arse and shouldn't be able to dictate things.

If he asked me to do it and I had nothing to hide I would do it to prove him wrong and ask him for an apology. It does make you wonder. But there are many diffrent ways to percieve it lots of diffrent people to blame

NO HE WONT, NOT WHEN THEY PROVE PAC WOULD NOT TAKE THE TEST THAT COULD SHOW UP DRUGS!

I would take the test, prove I was clean and them KO him in the ring.
Remember when Ali fought Ernie Terrel and Terrel wouldnt call Ali by his muslim name, Ali never pulled out the fight, he got his own back on the man who disrespected him by giving him a beating in the ring and made his point that way.
What about Pacman peppering Mayweather with punches shouting "No wonder you thought I was on drugs!"

I'm not sure about his motivations, whether it's fear of losing his oh, or just because he's genuinely concerned about the prospect of facing a juiced opponent, but it's still his fault.
First, he asks for an absolutely unique special condition that his opponent be held to a standard to which no other fighter in boxing has ever been required to adhere.
Pacquiao says, OK, even though it's not required of me, I'll do random blood testing, but as long as the cut off is 30 days before the fight -- then you can take as much blood as you want immediately after.
Mayweather refuses to budge.
The negotiations go into mediation, and it is Pacquaio who offers to move, yet again, by offering to take random tests 24 days before the fight, and immediately after, plus all the urine they want whenever they want.
But Mayweather, instead of accepting, or even shifting to a new position to see if they could get Pacquiao to move, simply refuses, and insists on his original position.
And that's when Arum just called it off as a waste of time.
I knew something like this would happen. I said, and someone can go back and find the thread if they want, that Mayweather would make life impossible in the negotiations, and that was the main danger to the fight being made.
Lo and behold, that's exactly what's happened.
I still think the fight might happen. I think that right now Arum is playing chicken with the fight, and that Mayweather might just blink. We'll see.
Now, I'm in a mood to cut off my nose to spite my face, and it would give me a perverse pleasure to see him in a mismatch against Hatton just so we can watch that braggart guttersnipe lose what last shreds of credibility he has.
Such a shame, because he's so talented, and so awesomely good, and he would probably beat Manny and become an all time great.
yeah good post.
it's for the commissions to enforce harsher drug testing.
most fans agree they are too slack on this issue.
shannon briggs recent ban proves how lightly it's taken in the sport.
mayweather is behaving like an arse.
nothing new there then.
the fact DG is siding with floyd proves how f*cked up he is.
On reflection, i'd have to agree. It is up to the commissions to dictate the drug testing and policies. I previously posted 'shame on Pacman for not taking the tests'. Seems I was wrong about that, it was the testing period he objected to finally.
I'm starting to think that Mayweather realises that Pacman gives him a thorough shoeing and his ego just wont allow him to be in a 50/50 fight and the possibility of losing his unbeaten record. Actually, can you imagine how classless Mayweather would be in defeat? Urrgh, Uncle Rog would probably start shooting folk whilst Floyd spits his dummy (quite literally) at Pacmans Mum.
He probably knows that Pacman is far too proud to take any mud slinging from him. I remember the negotiations for the Hatton fight took a while to complete because Pacman wanted to be given his 'place' so to speak, despite Hatton bringing in the ppv money.
Mayweather is a tit and a poor marquee figure for the sport. At least with Pacman refusing the testing time period (remember its not the tests he's refusing), Mayweather can now have an excuse for all time for not fighting him. What was PBF's excuse for not wanting the Cotto fight or the Margarito fight? (the hand wrap scandal came long after Mayweather balked at the opportunity btw DG).

Pretty much the same difference though to be honest.
For short term drugs which he IS ACCUSED of taking, the only way to disprove is to take the tests randomly at during the periods he would most likely be on something. Taking them at specific days DOES NOT prove anything.
Taking them at random times when he would likely be on something IS much more thorough beyond doubt

Cotto and Arum were offered the fight by PBF but ARUM said Cotto was not ready at the time.
Cotto is not the same fighter now.
Pacs a bloody juicer...allegedly.
Magarito was massive risk for no reward and who cares now anyway?

I'm unfamiliar with the drugs he's accused of taking? What are they? And I honestly mean no offence here, but why is everyone suddenly an expert on blood testing and PED's

Completely fair point, but from the rumours going around he has been accused of things such as EPO and HGH which only remain in the body for a few days.
I have been in or around the bodybuilding world for the past 10 years or so, so it's definitely not the 1st I have heard of these things.
I'm not saying Pac has cheated, I'm just saying the only way to clear his name was to take the test closer to fight time. If he chose not to, that's his own choice. He's not going to come out of this squeaky clean and his reputation has taken a big hit just as Mayweather's has too

Manny is WILLING to submit to standards higher than any boxer has ever achieved. I mean, how much boost can he really get if he's being tested for blood up to 24 days (three weeks) before the fight, and RIGHT AFTER, and urine at anytime in the meantime??
But, guys, the point isn't whether the request for random drug tests is legitimate or not, it's the fact that only one side was trying to negotiate.
In negotiations, both sides have to give and take.
And in this, Pacquiao was the only one willing to compromise -- unless you take my girlfriend's view of compromise (you do what I say means we've compromised).
It all reminds me of an incident from when I was about 11. You young 'uns were probably too busy playing on your PlayStation Portables, smoking super-skunk and gang-banging the girls in your class, but when I was around that age, in the late 80s early 90s, we used to collect football stickers from Merlin and Panini sticker albums.
You would buy packets of six stickers at a time, and slowly fill the book, but the rub was that as you filled the book, you would inevitably get duplicates. So, we would swap our duplicates in the playground for the ones we needed from other peoples' pile of duplicates.
One time, I saw this kid, who I didn't really know, who had a sticker I really wanted, and said, "I'll swap you for that". It's not a swap, I just got it, he said. "Well," I replied, "I've been waiting for ages for that, and I'll do you a deal." I suppose anything has a price, what are you offering, he replied smugly. "Well, I'll give you any four of my swaps". No way, i want more than that. "OK, we'll name what you want." I want 10 stickers. "Ok, done, let's do it." No, I mean 12. "Er, ok" 20! "What?! You said 10 at first, and every time I agree, you increase it. That's not the way it works, we're both meant to meet in the middle. How about 15?" No, 20. "17" No, 20. "Ok, 20." 25.
There was just no winning. He just didn't want to give it to me, and negotiations were pointless because of that. Irrespective of whether his demands were reasonable, the point was that there was no point in negotiating on them because at the end of the day he wasn't going to give me that damn sticker.
It's the same with Pacquaio - Mayweather.
Mayweather asked for Pacquaio to do meet standards to which no boxer had ever been asked to adhere: Olympic style drug testing. Pacquaio agreed, offering to take a blood test immediately after the fight, and randomly at any stage within a month of the fight. Mayweather refused. Their negotiations go into mediation, and it's Pacquiao who offers to move again, promising to do it within 24 days, and still Mayweather refuses to budge.
Irrespective of whether you think Manny is juicing or not, or whether you think it's a reasonable request or not, only one side is willing to negotiate.
So what's the point of Manny continuing?

It is NOT being tested for 24 days up to the fight!
24 days is 3 weeks and 3 days, well that is the case on Earth!
Only Manny and his team know why he won't do the RANDOM test - I suspect that he knows he would get caught.
PAC DID NOT AGREE TO RANDOM TESTS AT ANYTIME.
HE WANTED NO SOONER THAN 30 DAYS THEN 24 DAYS, PBF THEN SAID 14 DAYS.
PAC RAN!

The urine samples only test for steorids and not human growth supplements + the blood test is a small one, and he would
be back to normal within an hour.No he's not an olympian, but he is a proffessional sportsman.Boxing is a small world, and I have a strong impression that Floyd suspects foul play.I can't think of any justifiable reason not to just go, " sod it, I don't like this, but test me whenever you like, and I want a full apology afterwards when it comes back clean, which it will do".
Instead, he is now going to box a soft light middlewight champion in Yuri Foreman, for probably 1/3 of the money and with less than half of the viewing figures.I certainly won't be watching. I was looking forward to Mayweather-Pacman.

Writing in capitals doesn't make you any more right.
First, you didn't answer the question: how much advantage can Pacquaio get from juicing for about three weeks (He'll have to stop a day or so before the fight, because on the day of the fight he has to give blood)??
Second, Pac compromised all the way. He's submitting to tests no boxer in history has been submitted to. All these allegations about Pac are based on the fact he's good. Nothing more. He hasn't failed a single test. And now he's willing to do more than he has to.
But that's not good enough for your precious Batty Boy Floyd.
Isn't it interesting that everyone -- Bob Arum, half the boxing media, people on this forum, me -- said that exactly this would happen, that Needs Money Mayweather would make negotiations impossible and find some way of wimping out.
Of course, Batty Boy Floyd's cum slurping, @ss loving fans -- who would defend him even if he spat on Muhammad Ali's face and demanded a fight with Sugar Ray Leonard to decide who was the greatest Welterweight ever -- won't see this as confirmation of what everyone suspected for a long time.

I think its getting to the point where if Manny agrees to Mayweather's demands then Money has won the first battle.
My understanding is that Pac has agreed to have a test on contract signing, another 24 days before and one immediately after the fight. What is Mayweather's problem with this?????
I think this has to be mind games on Floyd's behalf. If Mayweather gets his way then this could change drug testing operations in the sport forever.

Carbo,
Pac 'might' be on something that would make his training go 'very well' even if he took it for 3 weeks, he is only training for 8 -10 weeks!!
He might be on 'Super Pac' Juice for all we know.
CAPITALS ARE SO YOU WILL READ IT!
Remember - 24 days is 3 weeks plus 3!
