i think Sturm's jab-first approach would like all jab-first guys be somewhat baulked by the southpaw angles and movement of Martinez.Datsue wrote:I would lovelovelovelovelovelovelovelove for Martinez to beat up Sturm.G0mez wrote:I say he goes after Sturm and gets the WBA title too.
However, I am not sure I would actually want to view that fight; Sturm's cautious, overly-jab happy approach would not mesh well with Martinez's counter-punching style if you ask me.
Martinez is too old to be mismanaged or maneouvred into boring fights. He needs come-forward lads to shine against
you and me if we're facing a lefty, we're going to lead with right hands and try to throw left hooks of them- can you see Sturm leading with the right very often haha?
Martinez wouldn't shine, here, don't get me wrong, but his style would put him into position to initiate more exchanges than Sturm would, and i think we can all guess that in a case where simply out-gutting your man is required, it wouldn't be Strum winning on intestinal fortitude. Martinez would take it in a mini-stinker, here, IMO, but Sturm won't go near him, natch.
