It's normal for the UK fighter to keep all the money here, isn't it? So how did Khan screw them on UK money? I mean, Mayweather and Pacquiao didn't get a slice of the money Hatton made here, did they? And this is Mayweather and Pacquiao we're talking about. The then P4P number one fighters and locked all-time greats.

And this trend you talk about of Khan's lot being tight, is overblown. People are quick to refer to the McCloskey and Maidana cases, but but ignore the Bradley and Judah ones - where they bent over backwards to try and make one, and drop the reasonable 60-40 for a generous 50-50 in the other.

And the Ariza business had very little to do with money, despite what all the reports claim. It was more to do with the way Ariza - who's no angel by the way - conducted himself with Khan's team. I mean, if it really was to do with money, then how come they had no problem in paying him for the previous four training camps, and patching up the differences immediately for this one?
No it's not "the norm" for all UK money to be kept by the UK fighter. Often it tallies into a split of 50-50, in the case of Pacquiao, he wanted even more than the 50-50 and the difference was picked up by Arum to make the fight occur. Haye vs Wlad etc.

In this case Judah doesn't have as much sway as the aforementioned opponents and is on much less than 50-50 all things considered. So im not sure why you allude to the fact that he actually is given 50-50 when he's not got any % of UK money, it's mathmatically impossible ?

Everyone in boxing knows that Bradley's deal with Shaw is over and he's signing with Top Rank, his manager Cameron Dunkin has put it all together for him, like he did Donaire and Kirkland before him, whom he managed and removed from Shaw for bigger opportunities. It was all a PR stunt of making Bradley look bad. Hence Team Khan become unusually generous in their offers... despite Tim Bradley being unable to draw flies. Then they revert straight back to type for Judah.

Ariza might not be an angel - but the reality is that his room was broken into and robbed of contracts with Khan for his services. then Khan publicly declared he worked for Freddie and was nothing to do with them. It was only when they realised the services Ariza provided were vital to the Amir Khan roadshow, that suddenly "all is forgiven, here, have some money" and the relationship resumed. That is fact and is well documented. Ariza had no beef with Amir, it was this "Team Khan" yet again.

Perhaps the same advisors who have shat all over Sky when they excercised some quality control of the undercard and overall value for money package that his last fight afforded his fans.

Other far more willing and exciting fighters dont hold a gun to TV companies heads and roar it's PPV or get lost, for what many believe was a pedestrian and hand-picked opponent.

They run their affairs like a cash & carry, failing to realise that relationships are the key to long term success - and dutch auctioning round their product simply pisses off everyone that really, Team Khan, should be bending over backwards to look after.

I thought it was the US money, that Pacquiao wanted more than a 50-50 split with – which Arum dug in his own pocket for. Hatton kept all of his UK money, just like he kept all of his UK money against Floyd. And the complete 50-50 Haye-Wlad split wasn’t exactly easily agreed to, was it. Haye half-heartedly gave that up.

And the 50-50 I’m referring to with Khan-Judah, is the US split. This is the same 50-50 that Judah has been referring to as well. He himself said he didn’t care about the UK money.

Yes, Shaw, being the ass he can be, did indeed deliberately make Bradley look bad by exploiting Bradley’s decision to not keep his promise to HBO, etc. But I don’t think you can call that a ‘stunt’. The improved offers were genuine, regardless of whether they were made knowing Bradley would likely turn them down and make himself look bad in the short term.

The Ariza situation was complicated by the fact that Ariza originally did work for and got his payments through Freddie. This is shown in one of the 24-7s where Ariza and Roach talked about how they teamed up, etc. Then around the time of the Pac-Margarito fight (I think after), Roach changed the payment plans and informed Ariza he would have to have his own contracts arranged with the fighters. It was this alteration and the way Ariza went about securing this contract directly with Khan, instead of Khan’s management team, that dented the relations and led to the subsequent fall-out. Actually paying Ariza, was never the problem. Which is why Shah, Khan’s dad, during the fall-out repeatedly said they’ll pay Ariza but they’ll be getting a new guy in. Now I agree that Khan’s team are indeed a bunch of clowns and they handled the whole Ariza situation, as well as others, very badly, but the notion that they were cheap and didn’t want to pay Ariza, is not entirely true.

The rest of what you say I agree with.

Pacquiao wanted the UK money split as Mayweather was kicking himself that he let some of that slip. Didn't Hatton take home more than Mayweather due to the UK money?

He does come across as outspoken and generally a bit like that - but I suppose you need someone to be tough during negotiations. I bet Asif makes no apologies for his approach to everyone in the game and fair play to him.

And I'm sure it's in their best finacial interests to keep as much money for themselves as possible.

But finacial interests and popularity interests are poles apart. But they are linked and Ive never met a popular tight bastard.

There are always bad guys portrayed in large camps and I suppose he is portrayed (rightly or wrongly) in that role. Mike Koncz is the villain according to many in Pacquiao's camp. Some might say that his input generates lots of opportunities for manny, that his handling of things keeps everyone on their toes.

Others have argued that quite to the contrary, many of his meddlings have resulted in chaos. But Manny is tucked away from it all either training or doing other things.

Im not suggesting Team Khan dont have Amir's best interests at heart, but there is a bigger picture than 'the next payday' - The world and his dog thought "Bad Move" when they took Amir's fight to Primetime.

Sure Primetime feel pleased by the scenario, but Premier Sports or whomever else will come along next and off they move again if it makes money it makes sense to them (see ITV, Sky)

By the same token Im sure Khan felt peaved that his Manchester show had been downgraded at short notice and they felt aggrieved by it which is perfectly understandable. But perhals the fights on the card should have been properly splashed out for, rather than simply being fleshed out by local ticket sellers. But I think they threw the baby out with the bathwater this time dumping Sky.

There are tons of people I know who go fights, buy fights on TV but have never read boxing on the internet. They keep abreast of stuff mainly in the papers or Sky sports news. Or their Sky TV guide or the one they post to you. That is a huge route to market that reaches millions.

Given this fight will be on at a late hour, on a un advertised channel (other than social media routes, banners) I think it will struggle to do anywhere the numbers that McCloskey did. Mainly because they havent got Sky plugging it right up until the week beforehand like the previous event.

The Sky guide that drops onto your letterbox always carried a huge spread either on the front or back, or within on any boxing event they want you to see.

That TV guide alone reaches just slightly over 10 million homes !

I'm not sure about that, dude. It was purely on the US side of things that Pacquiao was demanding 60-40. Arum improved the offer on his side to Pacquiao from $11 million to $12 million.

Hatton kept the UK revenue. It's pretty normal to do that.

I'm 99% sure he wanted the money. We're talking over 1million buys not just 100,000. The money that Hatton earned from Mayweather was rumoured to be £20m. Nobody gives up that market completely. The reason Hatton wouldn't give up the 51/49 split was due to him bringing such a high UK revenue

Well if the buys were over a million in the UK, then wouldn't Pacquiao's earnings have been more than the reported $12 million? Remember, you're talking about a complete 50/50 split on both US and UK revenues.

Oh, my bad. You were right :TU:

I've just found this:
It is estimated both men could earn US$10-20 million from the fight, but a significant proportion of the revenue generated would be by UK pay-per-view television. Shrewdly, Arum has demanded that sum is put into the overall total, perhaps calculating US sales will not match the 1.25m who paid for Pacquiao's 6 December fight against Oscar De La Hoya.

With Judah's attitude no wonder papers and TV networks view boxing as an insignificant sport.

You think it has that much impact? Ferguson has refused to talk to the BBC for years, hardly stops them writing about United.

As far as being a Khan hater goes, I did not like the fact that the MCloskey fight was PPV and was delighted to see the promotion fail. If only because it may make promoters think before serving up minor matches as PPV's.

I would not describe Khan as super talanted, he is a gifted boxer but some people are still not convinced about his chin. Madiena had him almost out on his feet, if that is to be applauded so be it.

I think that he has recieved far more acolade than he has earn't. If he beats Judah he will be recognised as Bradley's number 1 contender to establish the best at the weight. If he beats Bradley he may have a stronger claim to being super tallented and Roach's comments about him being the next Pacquiao will sound less hollow.

judah is a splinter champ who has been given YET ANOTHER opportunity in a chequered career. he's no superstar, he lost the big one with tszyu that he'll always be remembered for, so i don't see why he'd get money from the UK.

hopefully khan-judah will be a replay of naz-kevin kelly - that classic, up-and-down matchup between quicksilver brit-asian and brash, black southpaw from new york. this matchup is also between guys in similar stages of their career.

judah is crap with his media talk anyway. remember when his dad stood in for him during a conference call, a few years back, pretending to be zab?

As usual a Khan thread brings out all the haters out of the cesspool and the typical crap comes out about Khan.

Khan has been nothing but fantastic for British boxing, not only served his country with honour and pride when representing them in a sporting capacity but has also gone out of his way to help charities and use his own money to help out his local community in various ways.

He's also shown amazing fortitude recovering from a career ending knockout to come back and win a world championship plus be willing to take on the best opposition out there even if they(timothy Bradley) don't want to face him.

He's also brought British boxing back to terrestial television with ITV and in a roundabout way helped it come back to Channel 5 with the upcoming Fury vs Chisora fight.

As for what he makes moneywise, it's fornicate all to do with anyone on here but so far his team have done a great job for him and even showed balls to stand up to SKY and go their own way.

As for Zab Judah, this guy last fought in a school gym holding less then 1000 people and it wasn't even half full so Khan is doing him a massive favour and giving him a great payday but he's choosing to be an ungrateful prick so fornicate him as after this fight no one will care about him anymore.

The reason that Khan is facing Judah is because the American networks wanted it.

Khan's camp were happy to face Moralas or Guerrero.

As far as Khan hating is concerned, he is a very credible British world titlist and next to Froch probably the most qualified to call himself a bona -fida titilst - in the true sense of the word.

Bradley did step up to the plate for an attempt at a unification of the dvision against Alexander and should not be dissed because the fight was a disappointment. He did not take the Khan fight due to promotional issues and once these are resolved he will face Khan. In most neutral's eyes he is the best fighter at 140 pounds

Khan has defeated 3 top ten fighters at 140 and this is no mean achievement. His run at 140 has made the loss to Prescott and the inconclusive nature of his win against Barrara appear academic.

I don't know if he showed amazing fortitude to come back from the Prescott knockdowns. Lewis showed fortitude to get Rahman back in the ring as soon as possible and show the world that the earlier stoppage was a fluke.

Khan was given a title shot, a weight class up in his first fight at 140, I would call that good promotion rather than fortitude. He did win very clearly against a good opponent, that still remains a force in the division. I would place Judah on a level with Malignaggi and Madiena engaged Khan in an entertaining fight and allowed Khan to show that he does posess resilence.

The American networks would have been just as happy with Morales or Guerrero who i think would have been a much more dangerous opponent then Zab Judah at this stage.

Khan and he has shown fortitude to come back from such a brutal knockout and go on to become a world champion, that can't be denied.

Well i agree it was good promotion to get him a shot at Kotelnik but i like how Khan's career has been handled since then especially hooking up with Freddie Roach and establishing himself in America to fight the best possible opposition.

He clearly cannot see further than the end of his nose. Say he wins, 12-18 months down the line he could be fighting a Gavin or Brook in this country and the media might refuse to speak to him or put out any details on it.
