For that era he was. Joe Louis was 6'2" tall, Max Baer and Jim Braddock were each half an inch taller than Louis. When I was young in the 1960s a man 6'3" tall looked like a giant.
That's the answer. Average heights have soared each generation, and 6ft 5in in Carnera's time would have been the equivalent of at least 7ft today.

That's pretty true. Both of my daughters tower over their 5'6" mother, the older one is taller than I am.

Im not saying to have more weight div im saying some of the lower ones COULD be put together Super Fly Super Bantim Super Feather out of those three you could make it into two, therefor the same amount of Titles just put one in the Heaver weights that has 10kg plus difference. If you look at it there are to many weights in the lower divisions and not many fighters in them  weights.

Every generation just gets taller. The Opal's Aussie women's basketball centre Hollie Grima is over 1.9 metres tall.

Remember Nazim Kheir and James Fallon duking it out a few years ago for the "World Little Man Championship"?

I don't remember their weight but Kheir was 4'2" and Fallon was 3'6". They were the most minimum of minimum weights.

The bloke that came up with the startling fact that theres 10 kilos between Minimum and Lightweight and 9 weight divisions is correct.

Get rid of Minimum and Light Fly and implement the Light Cruiser division at 84.5 Kilo's.

It's actually probably the most common weight for Caucasions and afro Americans.

The lighter division suits Asians, and latin American boxing.

Not a race thing, but genetics, Boxing could ignite interest in the heavier divisions again. I just don't know many people who have heard of the Minimum weight or light fly.

The no 1 rated minimum weight is Nkosinathi Joyi of South Africa. Some black Africans are very small.

South Africa alone has 28 listed minimum weights and 25 listed light flyweights. This compares to 14 listed heavyweights and 11 listed cruiserweights in the same country.

The South African fighters have a lot of smaller fighters alone with the Asians and the Latin Americian that dosent change the fact those smaller divisions cant combine one or two of those divisions to have a Light Cruiser division. :TU:

Can't see it happening. Rocky Marciano would have fitted into the division you want and he beat the best heavyweights of his time.

Not a bad idea to bring some of the smaller weights together, I like a smaller cruiser divison between 79.8 and 85kgs makes sense then a super Cruiser Division maybe 85-95kgs! Would certainly aknowledge a growing population (physically) more importantly would be having ONE World Champion for Each division.................I know thats a totally different debate.
