Re: KHAN - some people should be ashamed
token reply. a) i didnt take the "mic" out of downs syndrome, merely compared vocal tones & textures. b) i have every right to insult his itelligence level, being stupid isnt something to be proud of. c) Amir Khan threads that end in a racist discussion are tiresome, because thats how at least 70% of them tend to develop into. If you think that makes me racist, well, you are obviously looking for it to begin with. d) I love how if you dont fall into line with fawning over a fighter its all "ignorance this, ignorance that", yet you'll happily excuse Amirs WELL DOCUMENTED ignorance.safeerah wrote:stevieb_8006 wrote:davie wrote:he comes across as a little dim!

I've been called racist for dissing Khan before. Let's ask the guy a question... does he like John Terry. If no, why is he not racist?

Amir Khan is not stupid, he is very successful, very wealthy and has achieved a lot for both himself and his family, what have you done lately ? I don't fawn of him as you say, just think he is not getting the credit he deserves, tiresome is not what I would call highlighting racism, it's called trying to remove it and non racists welcome debate, I notice you have not defended yourself by saying that you are not a racist, funny that.

Re: KHAN - some people should be ashamed
well a) u can be successful and wealthy AND be stupid as well. u do know that dont you, i could be here all day listing millionnaire idiots. b) the what have you done lately comment totally and absolutely justifies and supports my original comment about getting accused of jealousy as soon as u knock some1. clearly. u have proved my point there. c) how do u know im MY ethnicity? your quick to throw out racism accusations because of internet posts you dont agree with, then have the gall to call every1 else ignorant. these people you accuse could have black/asian/oriental wives/girlfriends for all you know. But you've read 1 comment about a some1s opinion of a boxer and made a what? Assumption. d) Judging by the support im getting and the derision your posts warrant, i'd say its YOU who is being deemed tiresome here. u r spoiling for a row, so obv. have a few issues that have (as i predicted) made this thread divert from the subject of a talented but vunerable boxer into ANOTHER race row. e) i dont HAVE to justify to some1 I have never met and prob never will, that i am not a racist. Any1 who has ever met me knows I am not, as do I. And they are the only opinions that matter to me. Not some1 getting upset because the public dont warm to amir khan. Have you ever thought its because they simply dont think hes very good? Outrageous I know, but entirely possible.safeerah wrote:Stevie b

well yes this is undoubtably true. there are fuckwit racists out there im afraid. but just because racism exists it doesnt me we cant say anything bad about khan ever just because of his ethnicity. particularly when he says/does such stupid things. this guy on here is accusing me a of racism because i said amir is a little bit dim. how unfair is that? Especially as hes been caught sending pics of his cock to a lapdancer in the past, had NUMEROUS driving bans/fines, said some really daft/offensive things on twitter.
that would be like saying ...... "idi amins was a bit of a wrong'un" ..."your out of order, thats racist!!!!"
my fav example of khans idiocy was when he tweeted about froch "hahaha he got battered for 12 rounds, at least i got knocked out in 1 minute..." priceless.

Re: KHAN - some people should be ashamed
I think its a shame that this thread has denigrated into handbags at dawn. But should people be ashamed of criticizing Khan?... I dont think so as long as the criticisms are in context and not abusive. There is a minority of people unfortunately who will willingly abuse someone if they see a weakness in them, for some it may be race for others it maybe simply that someone is fat, bald or ugly (unphotogenic). Regarding youtube, have a look at some of the vile things which have been posted on Paul ingles videos, why? because he is braindamaged and overweight!. Racism isnt just a problem of race but a symptom of the darler side of humanbeings and unfortunately this will probably always exist in some form or other.
Re: KHAN - some people should be ashamed
If I'd known this thread would de-generate into a slanging match I wouldnt have started it so sorry guys!
My initial point is just a bug bear of mine and nothing to do with race.
Ah well - no one's died onwards and upwards as they say!!

Re: KHAN - some people should be ashamed
My objections to Amir are largely characterised by what he's had to say in the following quote from today's press re the reason why he believes Froch doesn't like him:
"I'm in a tougher division, I'm fighting better opposition and I'm a bigger name than him. That's what burns him really"
I mean, is he really being serious? Does he actually believe this rubbish or is it the first thing that comes into his head?
I'm beginning to think that Amir is largely motivated by the wrong things - fame and celebrity. I know he trains hard and i know he has great heart for the fight but look at the comments he makes.
In a Sky interview at the venue in LV, broadcast on Friday before the Garcia fight, he said he was a 'superstar' and was openly comparing himself to Mayweather. He will deny it but it is quite obvious that he made his familiar mistake of looking past and thus underestimating an opponent (like he did with Limond, Gomez, Prescott and Peterson).
In the same IV on Sky last week he said he wouldn't fight Kell Brook because he considered himself a 'superstar' and that 'more people know who i am in America than know who Kell Brook is in the UK'. Previously, he's also said he wouldn't fight Brook (no criminal record, unlike Amir) as he is a 'bad role model' but would welcome a fight with PBF (serving time for wife beating).
Now he's gone on to say that he's a 'bigger name' than Froch. He also says that he's fought better opposition which is simply laughable. This is another debate entirely but has any fighter in British history had a tougher run of opponents? Does Amir seriously think that Peterson and Garcia are tougher than Ward and Bute?
What irritates me is that he is constantly referring to his status and fame when comparing himself to other fighters. Where has this obsession come from? Is he surrounded by idiots that keep telling him all this rubbish?
Why does he think that being more famous than an opponent is a reason to a) discount their honest opinion and / or b) discount them as a potential opponent?
So this is why i dislike the guy. I am pretty sure there is nothing racist about that. He's arrogant, to the point of delusional.
Despite all that, i love watching him fight as he has the priceless quality of being exciting and vulnerable.
But he needs to get humble, work on his flaws, and show some respect. He should be listening to what a great fighter like Froch says, not simply dismissing it.

u will also notice he had no probs fighting zab judah, michael gomez etc etc, they CERTAINLY had chequered pasts. much moreso than brook.
hes so daft cause all he'd have to say is "there are bigger fights for me out there right now". Job done. He doesnt need to make it personal.

Obviously nobody would agree with this, but then Froch had come out straight after he had lost and said Khan should retire. I can imagine Khan was probably a bit wound up by this and snapped back
Understandable, if laughably inaccurate statement

Re: KHAN - some people should be ashamed
Froch should keep his beak out of it rather than crow; if he's nothing supportive to say after a kO loss then he ough to keep his council. (I imagine that some parts of Amirs carer and financial success do irritate Carl tbh). Boxers are on weak ground when they give advice around like that; it can come back to haunt them; every boxer is one big punch and a split second away from an embarrassing loss.
