Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?

Bunce was always decent as a colour guy next to Andy Kerr's straight man act. This now seems a bit of an ego trip.
Listen, I am not defending Buncey's disgusting manner, because it wasn't disgusting. It was just an off the cuff, air filling remark. Regrettable I'm sure, but not disrespectful. He's referring to a fighting man, not a pretty boy snooker player. Bunce championed Frazier and was moved when he passed away, and I'm sure Bunce would have been moved by the death of Paul Hunter, as I'm sure millions were. It is a very unfair comparison to make.loaded_gloves wrote:Some weird people on this forum. I don't think anyone's painful cancer-related early death should be discussed in such a glib, off-hand and frivolous manner. Especially not by a 'professional' boxing broadcaster, on TV, referring to one of the greatest boxers of all time. Can anyone imagine a BBC analyst on the snooker referring to Paul Hunter as "Ees dead now inney!? Ee's brown bread! Let's get him up as a hologram it'll be well spooky!"
It wouldn't happen, not only for professional reasons but also because of basic human decency. Qualities that are missing in Bunce, and certainly in the one or two posters on this thread who are defending his disgusting manner.
Like I said, would Bunce have dared speak of Frazier in such terms if a Frazier associate such as Foreman or Hopkins were sat on the sofa? No way.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Bunce is a good writer in a michael katz illiterate style but he is a small time anorak at heart who has a very downmarket low level low grade style. He is a fathead late 80s loadsamoney alexei sayle fat man in an exploding suit parody of the far more serious boxing journalist who first emerged on ITV2's boxing first twelve years ago....since this new act and his callous rude arrogant disregard of the internet posters he once claimed to champion and who he used to get back on tv is his true face.....he is a disgusting money orientated human...the fact Joe FRazier is dead now means he is of no use to Bunce for a interview so therefore he is less than faeces to Bunce hence why he talked this way.loaded_gloves wrote:Some weird people on this forum. For this particular case the entire card (LIVE not on any tape delay) was shown, in English on Astrosports 3. It's not the first time that a foreign channel has shown a broadcast.Final round wrote:You tend to find alternative ways to watch the channel? Too many people these days seem to think them being offended means something, nobody gives a eff if you're offended, it doesn't mean anything, if you don't like something or someone, don't watch it or listen to what they have to say, you have that right. Bunce said nothing that was offensive, or anything that should have caused this thread.
How actually offended were any of you? Did any of you go to ofcom and make an actual complaint? Or did you go to Twitter and make a scene?
I don't particularly like his show or his presentation style so I don't watch it. It's really as simple as that.
The word offence is practically meaningless nowadays.
I tend to find an alternative way to watch what's on Allegedly channel but it hardly gives him an excuse to be a twat. It wasn't out and out offensive (your right) however it was "disrespectful" and "unprofessional".
Tbh I find Bunce and Lillis a little too similar in style so generally dont watch much of their studio commentary and believe they could do with having someone like Jim to pull it together like others have said.
x 2 - made me chuckle.Counter-puncher wrote:mugabi wrote:I think you hit the nail on the head. So you are seriously trying to say that because Bunce used a different platform for his initial comment in the form of TV, nobody should have questioned him on it through twitter? If so, congrats on taking a unique approach to social media.[/quote]Bronxbull666 wrote:The purpose of Twitter was to post what you are thinking and let your subscribers/fellow twatters voice their opinion on what YOU have tweeted. Sounds cool to me!
Ok mate if you can kindly post an email or address to complain about Bunces disrespect of the dead and great champion Joe Frazier.....as well as his general demeanour to much of the paying public here on the forums....let us know and those of us who deem it neccesary to do so will!!
That would be greatsteve689 wrote:So let me get this straight, are you lot starting a "let's get rid of Bunce" campaign??
