STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
Listening to these two fat, thick, inarticulate slobs trying to speak has been hard enough tonight, but for Bunce to say "Joe Frazier's dead now! Ee's brown bread!" was actually painful to hear. One of the greatest fighters ever, who gave his all to boxing, having died a painful early death through cancer, being spoken about in such a disrespectful way by an obese idiot.
Bunce is disgusting. Glad he's buried away on an obscure subscription channel.

I've been watching a different channel (Astrosports 3) but...he really say that? I know him and Lillis are ****ing awful but that's... that's a reason for people to really ask what he's doing on TV.
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
Whatever he's saying, it will be difficult to top a moment last night for sheer cringe factor. Buncey went off mike for about 30 seconds to check on a cut ruling leaving Stevie Bell on his own. Pain ensued.

Questioned Dunce on twitter about the Frazier comment
Complete twat.@kebark Oh, get real. Go watch netball. I'm in no mood for some soppy looking sofa warrior getting up himself. Respect, give over.
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
Joe FRazier was a great great man. if a HW today had even just Joes determination and not a qtr of of the talent and skill he would go very very far

That was painful. Dead air would have been better it sounded like Bell was talking to someone else during the time Bunce was away.magnus wrote:Whatever he's saying, it will be difficult to top a moment last night for sheer cringe factor. He is a slob of a man,
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
He said Joe Frazier was 'brown bread'?
What an absolute pudendum. Not that we didn't know it already.

'Sofa warrior'. Classy. Before that he complained about 'internet wankers'. He really doesn't seem to respond well to having his conduct challenged.
Conversely he doesn't like to challenge anyone on his Radio show, where he happily treads whatever party line his guest proffers. Unless it's the 'Bodie Man' in which case he mirthlessly pulls rank like Gripper Stebson in the Grange Hill tuck shop.

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's a dinosaur who has lost any credibility he had left with his hypocrisy regarding allegedly and his relationship with a certain promoter.iamasadlittleboy wrote:Questioned Dunce on twitter about the Frazier comment

There's no point in getting wound up by him - the response you've highlighted above tells you all you need to know about his petty, immature attitude. Content yourself with the knowledge that he'll become increasingly irrelevant and obsolete as the years roll by...
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
It still beats the sterile, thoroughly predictable presentation we see on Sky Sports though, IMO.
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
Agreed. And being on an obscure channel means he has to be controversial to get attention.Kilburn wrote:It still beats the sterile, thoroughly predictable presentation we see on Sky Sports though, IMO.

Just terrible, I hit fast forward as soon as I saw the two fat geezers giving it large on their tiny sofas - just laughably bad.
Do the Warren clan watch this and seriously think it's a good image for their channel ?

The more i see of Bunce, he looks like some he has turned up at a Krays gang reunion party !!
I have said for a long time just to ignore the guy. Don't make any threads on him. His time was at setanta. He will talk in a way that suits his employers, regardless of whatever knowledge he has in his locker. This forum worked hard to get him back on tv with the bring back Bunce campaign and then he shitted all over this forum over his spat with Ian. He never debates, just hurls insults and tries to belittle people on websites like this because he feels we are just worthless individuals who don't know as much as him, so aren't worthy of a proper reply or reasoned responce. Anyone that gets the top side of him is just denounced as a key board warrior. Bunce does know his stuff if he chooses to use it, but his hands are tied and his arse is clogged up by whoever he works for, so his opinions become devalued and contradictory. There are plenty of people on here who have as much knowledge, but he is a cockney chirpy "lovely jubbly" fella who can add some spice to a small television program which at best is laughably amatuerish.
Put it this way, does Bunce's opinion ever make you think " Ummm, yeah, i never thought of it that way......."
EXACTLY................

I agee,i enjoyed the Bunce Hour when Jim hosted it while Bunce was on holiday. They should try to use less of Bunce and Lillis,it looks like and old boys club and not very proffesional at times.stujones wrote:Not sure why they don't use more of Jim Rosenthal

I think you are being too sensitive here. I agree that his choice of words were wrong, but I don't think he was being disrespectful. Bunce certainly isn't amateurish, and him and Lillis bounce off each other (no fat pun intended). As a boxing fan I'm pleased to watch boxing fans cover the sport, which essentially Bunce and Lillis are. I prefer watching Bunce and Lillis over some stiff professional presenter any day.
Hassling people on Twitter is pathetic, sofa warrior behaviour. The difference between Bunce and Rosenthal for example, is that Bunce has actually boxed. If you don't like it, don't watch.

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
I watched the Abraham-Stieglitz fight the other day, with the missus. She's a bit of a boxing virgin, & halfway through one of Buncey's interminable monologues that seem to have been lifted from a documentary about London pubs in the 1970s she looked at me & said: "He's doing a parody of something, right? I mean, what's with all this 'Back in the day, daahn the East End shit?' Who's he doing an impression of?"
"Himself," I answered. "In the Guy Ritchie gangster film of his own life."
I fully understand that some people expect/enjoy it. But he makes me (& anyone with a sense of humour) laugh their arse off.

I like Lillis, I particularly enjoyed his stories on the main event radio show. Going into Tyson's hotel room in Memphis before the Lewis fight.
Tyson, covered in pigeon sh*t , laying on his hotel bed, with pigeons in the bathroom. So he starts photographing him and faxing copies to The Sun , in the days before internet.

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
How on earth did that tweet constitute 'hassling'? I think you're failing to grasp the fact that the main USP of twitter is the opportunity to engage with other people who've chosen to use the medium in terms of expressing opinions, debate etc. It's a two-way medium, not one-way.Bronxbull666 wrote:Hassling people on Twitter is pathetic, sofa warrior behaviour.
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
I think that campaign was more about losing the boxing hour show than Bunce himself. Ringside has filled that void somewhat, but it doesn't cover the wide range that the boxing hour did. It centers around fighters who appear on Sky, which is understandable as they have a much larger pool than Setanta used to.mugabi wrote:Now all the legion of sheep who he used for his "bring back bunce" campaign must feel like the mugs they were treated as.
Even during that episode he showed his true arrogant, snake like using ways and contempt for the everyday man and woman with that sexist rant at that journalist.
Of course he is flippant about Frazier....Joe is dead and therefore no use to Bunce either for an interview or anything else.
While idiots were championing Bunce, I told them that he was an amateur who gave the boxing he covered an amateur, cult, fanzine type of lowbrow image like a minority sport was being covered.....and not the international richest most prestigious sport in the world covered by Mailer, Carpenter, David Frost and Eamonn Andrews..........all that said Bunce knows his boxing inside out and is potentially a great anchor...too bad he's been more wwanker lately....I do admire his ability to recover from the Setanta setback tho.

Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
How can Bunce dismiss anyone as a "keyboard warrior" when he is cracking jokes about a man who is dead and has no recourse? Is that not a massive contradiction?
Would this grotesque fatboy dare to refer to Smokin' Joe Frazier as "brown bread" if Marvis Frazier, or George Foreman, or Bernard Hopkins were sat on the sofa by him? Would he fcuk.

The tweets to Bunce were hardly harassing, merely stating that a bit of respect would have been nice. It's not hard to just say something like "Frazier's passing last year" or "Sadly Joe isn't with us any more"
Re: STEVE BUNCE - HAS IT COME TO THIS?
i didn't see it but would not imagine that it was intended with any malice altho sure it could have been put more respectfully.
Does anybody think Frazier would have given a sh*t? I'm sure I saw a documentary in which Frazier said "Look at him (Ali) and look at me...you still think I lost that fight? .... hahaha"...........or something to that effect. Let's not make out he was a saint himself imho.

I think it was on his voice mail too. Something like:NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:i didn't see it but would not imagine that it was intended with any malice altho sure it could have been put more respectfully.

'''Floats like a butterfly,
Stings like a bee,
Look at him now,
That was me''
Followed by laughter.
Maybe Bunce simply doesn't have much respect for Frazier, but it shouldn't come out in a professional setting.
