F#ck me, did they hollow out Chavez's abdominal cavity prior to the weigh-in?? He's in a world of trouble tonight.
Why? It's a contest; Chavez is not a horrible, evil man and he can't help who his dad is. He turned pro at 16 and has learnt, he's got better. Who on this site are so principled that they've lived a frugal monastic and stoic life though their parents are rich and successful? Martinez is an excellent boxer and comes across as a more rounded person than Chavez, (he has age and experience on his side for this). Many are saying that the only way Chavez can win is if he cheats orre is undue influence; Chavez can win this bout by his own merits; Martinez ought to be the favourite but Chavez is no chump.jimcook wrote:agree almost completely with datsue. it would be a bad thing if chavez was somehow able to win this. i cant believe so many are tipping chavez to win . martinez is miles ahead in almost every dept other than size and youth.he should be able to land on chavez at will and hes a vicious puncher. i think that once he finds his range he will ko chavez in brutal style, something like ray mercer did to tommy morrison.
Got to be looking at 6am?danconnollyeire wrote:What time do they fight?

Even now you can't give the man credit? He was out sped, out punched and out thought for 11 rounds and stuck in there and kept trying. Martinez is fantastic and a full league above Chavez; because you admire one doesn't mean you have to hate the other. Julio nearly got Sergio out in the last round; there's not many middles would have took their lumps and tried their damndest in the last round. Respect to both boxers for different reasons.Final round wrote:Sorry but Chavez XXXL from now on he looked like a effing cruiserweight in there and he was crap to boot.
He gets credit for being brave in a stupid way, Chavez nearly got Martinez out of there because he was a couple of divisions heavier and Martinez was blowing out of his fornicating arse from smacking shots of XXXL's chops all night! Don't call him a middle ffs.he threw fornicate all early rounds and let them slip relying on the weight disparity taking it's toll and being able to steam roller him late on.palooka wrote:Even now you can't give the man credit? I've read a lot about Chavez XXL's bravery. Just a second, though, because how brave is it to walk down a fighter two divisions lighter who you know can't hurt you? & no there's probably not many middleweights; but small cruisers, the size of Chavez? Yeah, I can think of a few.palooka wrote:Even now you can't give the man credit? He was out sped, out punched and out thought for 11 rounds and stuck in there and kept trying. palooka wrote:Martinez schooled Chavez and proved his point. There's more to Chavez than size, there are many super middles or light heavys that would have been sickend to quitting given the display tha Sergio put on. If Chavez is able to get to the weight (were drug tests carried out last night) and box then what's the issue? Some people can cut weight and rehydrate and compete and others can't. Chavez could have been a spoiled playboy and instead competes in a very hard and dangerous sport; he gave what he could and was shown to be a class below a fantastic and gifted boxer. Martinez will probably not be as badly hurt again until his very last bout; that Chavez was able to do so shows that the man is more than a big lump with no skill.
There's not really any point in getting into it with you, really.Datsue wrote:palooka wrote:Martinez schooled Chavez and proved his point. Come off it... What did he do that showed he's anything other than a fvcking huge bully?

If Chavez had been just a bully he'd have bailed out at halfway, (we've seen others do it under less duress).
A fvcking huge bully? - Broner, Castillo, either Klitsko brother?
Ah, I see. I would agree to a certain extent, but it appears to me that I saw a much smaller, older, less-favoured bloke fight with a suspected broken left hand & a suspected blown-out right knee, & not get touched until he was exhausted by keeping the bigger guy off him. & this in fact so outweighs (hahahahaha) the modicum of respect I have for the aforementioned bigger younger etc etc fighter, that it seems fornicating rude not to point it out.palooka wrote:I saw the best middleweight in the world and a top P4P boxer put on a fanatstic display and look brilliant doing it. I also saw a man take a pretty sustained and demoralising hiding in front of millions watching; that takes some balls. Chavez lost to a man at least a league above. To keep on in there and go for it late on deserves respect, in my eyes
Well-spotted! The author of the "Highly Official Come On Sergio Gabriel Megathread" has a bit of a crush on him! First-class detective work. You win a prize. I've been outed. It's not fair...palooka wrote:

I generally enjoy reading your posts but really don't think there's any need for the sarcasm or attitude in this one.Datsue wrote:Well-spotted! & no, normally blokes who are naturally gifted leave me somewhat cold; I prefer the nuances of well-applied technique I suppose. I love that in boxing you can overcome such natural advantages -- size, strength, speed, power, even workrate -- with such science. I even alluded to this, if you'd read the effing thread (look, it's there! On the first page! In the big list what I wrote which this thread is named after! I must've been hiding it, so very well done for ferreting that one out). But there are extenuating circumstances, & natural gifts & natural gifts. When two blokes aren't the same size yet reside in the same division it irks me more than almost anything, yes, as I also admitted right at the beginning of this thread.
I suppose I could justify & explain every single psychological reason I have for thinking the way I do, but I really am getting ever-so-bored wasting my Sunday talking to you, though, so I think, rather than explain & justify my every opinion & quirk--especially those which I've gone to great length elaborating before (indeed, in the same thread in which we are conversing)--that instead I'll just put you on ignore & you can continue with whatever fantasy you choose to indulge without me interrupting you.
Good day.
