Prior to facing Bruno LeDoux had won his last 4 (not again anyone of note, but he was winning them), had been stopped 6 times in his WHOLE career, not 6 times in the previous 2 years (lets not forget those stoppages included losses to Foreman, Coetzee, Page, Holmes and Bobick) and his previous loss had come by a split decision to Gordon Racette not a debutant!

I haven't even read the other stuff. I can't face that. I'm already finding one thing difficult enough - the assertion that Scott Le Doux was worse than Owen Beck. Santa Maria!

The thing people are trying to enlighten you about is that you are making a category error. Wilder's opposition looks like Roman Greenberg's.

I don't think that it should've been stopped either. However, Culcay unloaded close to 20 unanswered punches, several of which I thought landed, and if Thompson wasn't out of it as suggested above, he should've done more to ensure that the referee wouldn't step in.

He was protecting himself, Calkay was throwing alot but not many were landing. Thompson didn't look out of it. He was tucking up ok .
Culcay landed several punches, and Thompson was clearly in trouble. Again, I don't think that it was a good stoppage, but if a fighter isn't out of it they should throw some punches back, and not stand passively as their opponent unloads 20+ power shots on them.

He easily threw that many power punches during the final moments of the bout; you counted 12 in the brief highlight video I posted.
I said that he 'unloaded' that 20+ powershots, meaning that he threw that number of punches. I understand that not all of them were landing, but Thompson was standing passively when he could've done much more to prevent a stoppage.
When they showed Povetkin's missus, did anyone else think immediately of that old Simpsons riff, where Homer invents the make-up gun, but sets it to "Whore"?
