I think a prime Calzaghe would beat all versions of Froch, but a prime Froch would've beaten Calzaghe on his worst nights. But I also believe Calzaghe would've been wary of Froch and trained well, which is something he was often guilty of failing to do against the warriors of Middle-earth.

Disappointingly, I feel that JC's prime ran from Starie to Merkitchen. He seemed to mention Roy Jones in every interview back then, along with his lack of domestic competition in Benn and Eubank's absence. Collins was another who mentioned Jones at every turn in the late-'90s.

At least Collins fought McCallum (and Woods had a crack at Jones), but it was such a frustrating time to be a super-middleweight fan 10-18 years ago. So much talent on either side of the pond, and so many misplaced passports.

I think the result of this fight depends on the amount of cocaine used by 1 of the fighters in question.

People have been repeating this myth time and time again that Calzaghe wins especially since Froch turned up with problems and had his worst night ever against Ward.

People on this board at that time were talking as if Froch had now found his "true" level and could find lucrative fights with degale and Groves

Hes come back and destroyed Bute and Mack. Bute was rated higher than Ward by many.

For the record i beleive a Ward-Froch fight will be totally different affair in a rematch.

And for the record i think Calzaghes brawling and fast work rate would suit Froch down to the ground.
Froch has beaten Taylor and Dirrel although it was a struggle. But most things are a struggle for Carl thats why he is such a compelling fighter and figure.

His punches at awkward angles and in bunches would present real problems for Calzaghe, and he would take a leaf out of Hopkins book. WHat none of you people seem to understand is Calzaghe retired after fighting Hopkins (a fight he lost by 2 points on my record), because Hopkins during that first 6 round shut out exposed how Calzaghe would be beaten time after time by the MW mid tier in history......grab his left arm on the inside and he cant flurry with one hand.

Mack was hopeless. He looked weight drained and skinny and had been knocked out 4 times previously and had no punching power. Not a great win in my book. About the same level as Tocker Pudwill. The Bute win was good because he was a bit unknown, but in the end, he folded very easily, both mentally and physically. He had also been knocked out before (unofficially).

I think the Ward rematch will tells us whether Froch is a true great or not -I think Ward is going to be tough to beat. He was physically stronger than Froch and was able to tie him up and push him back. I hope it happens because it will be a fascinating encounter.

Would they make them fight every day of a week? It'd be a good fight, but I'm not sure I'd want to have six rematches all in the week that followed it.
