Maybe a tad harsh to say he had no "world class" wins (surely Benn did enough to get the label World class, surely Rochigianni was world class, surely Malinga was etc). However, he didn't fight the best and his 20 successful defences has to be scrutinised with the lack of American names on it.

However, I think it is harsh to say Eubank got a fair few gifts... name them? I remember there was a bit of an outcry at the time that Eubank didn't get thrown out for the Dan Sherry butt - however, if anyone should have got disqualified it was Sherry, so the right decision was made.

Yes, I agree I think Watson won the first fight.... but aside from that I think Eubank was rightfully awarded the fights he was given. Indeed, could say that he should have got the nod vs Thompson in fight 1.
Both Ray Close fights, Dan Schommer, Benn 2, Malinga, Watson 1

Didn't Jim Watt say that the WBO headquarters were raided and they found the scorecards for Eubank's next six fights? (something on those lines)
Not sure what Watt said, I'll agree to disagree with those other ones though.... close fights yes (as they were on score cards). We had a thread on the Benn2 fight no long ago and it seemed a pretty even(ish) split... well more were saying Benn, but a good few saying a draw was right or Eubank by a point.

Malinga was very close and thought it could have gone either way (although I scored it for Eubank - I thought Malinga clearly beat Benn in their first fight), definately think Eubank was victor in the Close fights and against Schommer - Close fights, but Eubank had the edge.

I think Eubank even admits Schommer beat him. But we will agree to disagree on the scorecards...

I do think there is a complete overrating of Eubank, like he was some sort of murderous punching master craftsmen. Froch beats him. He ships a few good shots, but he would out work Chris and not get knocked out.

Unless the WBO judges shafted him of course

Froch would have beaten Tony Sibson, John Mugabi would have knocked him out, Alan Minter, well I think Froch would have beaten him. Vito Antoufermo, Yeh, again another win for Froch. Mark Kaylor, yeh again I think Froch would have won.

BUT

Benn, Eubank and Graham no contest.
Froch beats Eubanks handily even the young hungry eubanks. Froch would counter the counter puncher and eubanks big right hand would bounce off Carl . Carl has just fought and beat far better fighters than Eubanks sans Benn, who i think would beat Froch stop him in 10-11.

As for the rest I think Froch beats Sibson, Minter,Kaylor, Graham,Watson and Antuofermo, but loses to 89 duran, hagler, rrobinson, jones jnr and srl of 87 vintage, not to mention the hitman.

You honestly think Carl would get beat by Robinson and Hagler?

Mike McCallum would have thrashed Froch. Even when he was down at light-middle. :box:

Personally I think it's a bit of a nonsense to say Froch would have only been beaten by a select few super-middles in history. Forgetting Andre Ward, Jermain Taylor boxed his ears off for the majority of their fight. So realistically any American who can match the performance of that version of Taylor and not get stopped would beat Froch ...certainly your Michael Nunn's and James Toney's would have had a field day exploiting that leaky defence!

Then how can you doubt that Robinson and Hagler would beat him?

Somebody doubts that Hagler could beat Froch? Seriously?

Marvin would chew him up and spit him out, if Jermain Taylor gave Froch problems then Hagler would tear him a new arsehole.

Neither LaMotta; not a big hitter; or Mugabi who was a massive hitter but mostly at lightmiddle would have stopped Froch, no way.

Eubank.

I think there were quite a few guys who would've beaten Chris on points, but not a middleweight in history who would've embarrassed him. Until he fought Thompson he was always draining at least one weight division too far.

I don't. I was being sarcastic. I put the poll up cos I think Carl and Chris is a good match. Both Hagler and Robinson would make Froch look terrible FFS

Eubank was in a different league to Froch... So was Benn and Calzaghe its great what Froch has done but he is limited and would have been beaten by any of those 3...
