What a tragedy. He was only 50 years old, so senseless.
He could have had a greater career, but still he is an obvious Hall of Famer. He was infurating at times, but he was a great draw.

i'm still processing this but i'd like to do a larger entry when i can.

What a shame. Rest in Peace champ. Hector was a teriffic fighter and had a throwback style that you don't see much anymore. He would use his legs,keep that southpaw jab in your grill and when you tried to counter his jab he would slip it and counter your counter. I used to find his style entertaining. I think a lot of fans thought he was runnin around but he wasn't.His movement was great boxing. The skill level he had was amazing. He had heart too.

On atgradio.com last night, Roy Jones gave big praise to Camacho saying he had the fastest hands of any fighter he had ever saw.

More important than that, he was a tranformative figure in the game . People forget that he was the first one to try many of these outlandish self-promoting antics the garish trunks and flamboyance have been imitated by countless boxers since them. For better or worse the showmanship that is common in boxing today was first initiated by the Macho Man . he was a small reltively light punching boxer with a safety-first style who managed to make himself into a household name with his schtick. That's his legacy.

I think it was Greg Gaugen that said (oddly) that Camacho had quite a bit of sting in his punches
