Kristian Laight may be good at tucking up, moving, picking up his cash.
As for beating people on Queensbury, what are you smoking.
Laight got beat by Ben Day who only had one unlicensed fight and one white collar fight before turning pro.
Don't give it all that if he tried nonsense, because otherwise he would try.
Are you saying he is 'professional' when all he is doing is deceiving the public by being a professional loser.
Why is the BBBofC tolerating it.
Say what you like about Queensbury, both men come to win.

Both men come to win a pub brawl, doesn't mean it's any good. Laight was in with Ben Day to lose, if he went in and did a number on him, promoters would become wary of using him as an opponent for their fighters, so he'd fight less and earn less when he likely relies on the money to put food on the table and he can't sell enough tickets to get a fight as the 'home/house' fighter, so he has to go on the road to get fights, if he wins he doesn't get fights, so he doesn't earn money and he can't pay the bills.
The standard of the unlicensed fights is a million miles away from professional boxing, if you want to box, fight as an amateur or go pro, if you're not good enough, you're not good enough, just like other sports.

Part of me agrees with Expe, but I won't begrudge anyone the chance to get in the ring and test themselves. Be it licensed or unlicensed.
Good luck to them but its not something I will take much of interest in. I have been to one queensbury show but left after my mate boxed. I went to a few EBF ( I think ) shows a few years ago and they were awful. Not one competitive fight on the bill

Ben day got a draw with Paul haines, which means haines got his first win,, day wouldn't last 2 mins with anyone in the under 10s novices,,, so many people blow smoke up his arse, he actually believes he's special,, deluded!!!

Queensbury has ex amateurs and pro's. Have they suddenly become pub brawlers.
Laight must be deceiving the public if he's so good. I think that is wrong. If he wants to earn regular money he can work in Tesco's.
Talk to me about Bheki Moyo.

Bheki Moyo has been stopped 6 times in 60 odd fights, again, no unlicensed fighter would be able to do that. I think he's had his license withdrawn anyway, so expect to see him pop up on an unlicensed show soon.
Ex-pros and ex-amateurs, why aren't they currently professionals, because they aren't good enough, so their license has been taken, ala Robin Deakin, or they have been deemed medically unfit to box, in which case it is shameful that any promoter would consider putting them on their shows.

I think you are way off the mark. There are plenty of Individuals who could cut it as a pro on the Queensbury. Some have done so already. What is shameful is the Board's myopia with the long list of 'professional' losers.

Your miles off mate and blatantly dont understand boxing as a business..
Ill use Nottingham as an example, Theres no pro promoter here at all, so unless someone is cream of the amateurs or sells a monstrous amount of tickets theres not much point in turning pro unless they are happy to go in the away corner and only get work if the home promotions thinks their guy can beat him. just common sense.
Ive got a lad who isnt a big seller but is a huge puncher, hes not gonna get work in the away corner, so whats the point in turning pro ? can fight 6 or 8 times per year unlicensed and get paid, or he can get a license and box once per year which will pretty much just cover the cost of his license.
As for Journeymen, I know a couple of lads who are journeymen who started off coming for the win, but not getting the decision demoralises them so they become less dedicated and less concerned about losing, the lack of dedication and training etc etc gradually decreases the ability and fitness, most journeymen by the time theyve lost a few change their mentality in such a way that its very difficult to change later on, theres several ex pro journeymen on the unlicensed scene who i wonder how they ever got licensed, and i know lads turning pro and getting wins who when they was on my shows was getting stopped inside a round or two by lads who we consider not ready to turn pro yet.
I assure you the gap between pro and unlicensed isnt as great as you think, Hopefully thats proven Feb 22nd when someone whos boxed on my shows becomes BBBoC British champion.....

You have to reach a certain standard to be a pro and if you drop below that you lose your license sharpish.
Anyone can fight unlicensed, of course some of the top ones are capable of getting a pro license, and typically if they reach that standard they do turn over.

No you don't coco, to turn pro now you have a shadow box,, not even a trial spar, bend day, couldn't box kippers,, but sold 250 tickets, I took the kid to spar down the haye gym with shinkwin and Taylor along with rice, he wouldn't even get changed after calling it on yet is unbeaten

Not my doing though as i advised them against it, they've had a total of 6 unlicensed bouts between them, trainer put them forward for it.
Dont get me wrong though they arent bad lads and may win the titles, but what grates me is that people who know no better assume that because its televised its the elite of the unlicensed lads, which it isnt, so if my lads dont win those titles it kind of looks bad on myself for putting them forward, but i didnt, the trainer did, i dont be all defensive and tell the lads they can only box on my shows etc like some do. As long as they dont box on the lesser level local white collar stuff that occurs from time to time.
The pay is poor too.
The time when i think queensbury is useful is for those considering turning pro as it can give them a little bit if tv exposure to then help sell themselves on the back of it, which is the same positive spin ill attempt to put on it afterwards for my own shows.
They have only 3 between them lol

My mate fighting on queensbury he was a top armature but bbboc would give him a licence as he had lazy vision on his eye (was caused by a thumb in eye in a a semis against george groves) even tho 4 different options said his eyes were perfectly sound he's not bothered bout money wants to box but a a rules want something he wants to carry on with so now he fights on the unlicensed scene so what u gotta think is if it want for the likes of queensbury he wouldn't be able to get tv exposure and carry on with his passion for boxing

If he had lazy vision in one eye it's no wonder the board didn't license him, if you can't see the punches coming properly you can't defend yourself properly. Some people just aren't cut out to be fighters for one reason or another and they have to accept that.

Some people can't get licensed by the board for numerous reasons. Not only that you have some guys who feel they are too old to go pro, or don't have enough time to dedicate to be a pro due to other commitments. This then fills the gap.
Then you've also got the cost of going pro. A fan who has never laced up a pair of gloves has no idea of the cost involved with this sport. The pro medical is extortionate, and then shorts are £150, decent boots are £100+, gloves you need 16oz, 10oz and bag mitts each for more that £40. Gumshield at dentist is £60. Headguards are north of £100. Not a cheap hobby.

Your looking at putting out at least a grand a year to be a pro plus selling tickets etc etc....
I like the sound of queensbury it sounds a lot different to a lot of what we see up here.
Back when I was a young lad being a pro was something to be exceptionally proud of. I think the general standard of pros has dropped. I don't think the gulf is a lot anymore between the lower skilled pros and the upper skilled unlicensed.
Semi pro is both a bragging title for the wannabes and a stickler for pro fighters who have served there time. In reality it's just a name isn't it. Who cares what they call it.
I believe that amateur boxing is the most credible way to bring through fighters. They aren't perfect but it takes real skill to navigate a boxing season with good results.

Looked on the Board's website. No note of Bheki Moyo losing his licence, unless it is about to happen and Moyo doesn't know yet.
Spoke to Robin Deakin who confirms that he passed every Board medical examination possible and can prove it, and doesn't understand what the so called medical reasons are that got his licence taken away. Perhaps expe can explain as he seems well informed.

Robin Deakin's license wasn't taken because he was medically unfit, it was because he'd lost 49 on the trot, 11 by stoppage and wasn't even capable of taking rounds off opponents that weren't even considered to be top prospects, he was getting to the situation where he could have been seriously injured in the ring and was too brave for his own good, so the board made the sensible decision to revoke his license.

X2 did robin appeal through the proper procedure which would have gone before the stewards of appeal who are completely independent as proven when they have overturned numerous decisions on withdrawal of licences in the past

I would guess so, the Southern Area notice mentions regulations 4.9 and 5.10, but I can't find anything as to exactly what they are. The board will eventually revoke licenses if they feel a fighter is getting stopped too often, or isn't capable of at least beating other journeymen, Delroy Spencer's was taken last year, Carl Allen will probably be prime candidate to go next at 44.
