The sad part, though, is that he wouldn't get the recognition he deserves anyway, as he fights in the smallest weights and has about the least Western name in the world.
Hugely agreed

Crawford hands down. Gonzalez second, Kovalev should be third and Cotto fourth.

Bastard, I was going to say that!
I voted Kovalev, because of the manner of his wins.
As another poster points out though, it's indicative of the state of modern boxing that Boxrec forum's fighter of the year beat 2 average fighters and a 49 year old.

Don't really follow the lower divisions, but that is a very strong case! Still... Moving up a division in these divisions basically consists of not taking a sh1t before weigh in....

To put his weight into perspective, it's a similar amount of weight as Guillermo Rigondeaux would have to add if he were to fight Mikey Garcia.

Well aware of Inoue as I looked up his first world title fight a couple of weeks back and saw a lot of ability. Today's fight shows the new weight suits him. Big future ahead of him that's for sure.
Still Crawfords the FOTY for me he won the belt in The champs hostile back yard.
Had what many people considered the hardest possible defence a guy who was once tipped as p4p level.
Defended against ring magazine no2 and the guy who should have had the WBO belt anyway.

Inoue for me too.
wlad should be on the list too. Beat arguably the number 2 in his Division + other mandatory Defence.

I enjoyed watching Golovkin the most. Pac's win over Bradley was the best achievement from those listed.
