He nearly got killed against Vitali years ago. He's live with Wilder for about 2 rounds, then gets a terrible beating.

Fury would humiliate him.

I've heard he's actually being considered for Wilder in January. Is he even ranked?
He is #8 by the WBA but unranked by the WBC.

Some strange magic will have to happen in the ratings for it to happen.

And also it would be the most disgraceful title defense in years
Dunno mate, someone called 'Bronco' Billy Wright has just thrown his hat into the ring. He's 50 year old but is ranked by the WBC, although only at 20.

Would Wilder stoop that low?

Seems like he's trying to cram as many easy defences in before he's forced to fight Povetkin.

He wouldn't dare try that I don't think. Fury's old man wouldn't wear it. I saw a clip of James Toney trash talking and calling out Shannon Briggs around the same time Briggs was turning up at WK gym. James Toney was calling him out. Briggs when interviewd and asked to reply about Toney's comments bottled it.

Briggs is a bully. WK is a quiet man and calm, where James Toney is louder so Briggs don't want to know. Same goes for Tyson.

Still a very small one.

Don't be fooled by the talking--he hasn't beaten a decent opponent in years and even nearly a decade ago he would gas after a few rounds. Nowadays I'd expect anyone in the top 20 to handle him without many problems and given his crappy opposition I suspect that he realizes his limitations.

Briggs...Let's go champ jesus that's all he can come up with. And what's with that strange voice of his that he seemingly loves the sound of? I swear he didn't used to sound like that. Or maybe he didn't used to shout all the time.

Clown.

In some respects its a sad state of affairs, as he's possibly mentally ill, deeply in debt, or both.

Its difficult to fathom his desperate antics otherwise. The comedy value has long since passed for me.

Very true/wise :TU:

There's something not at all right/good in this.

Briggs is stubbornly playing the role of the unpaid, unnecessary and unwanted court jester and seems oblivious to these harsh, very evident facts.

Being somewhat cynical, I briefly considered the possibility that Briggs might be reduced to earning a few Euros on the sly from Bonte and the K brothers by creating a stir of sorts in the build-up to some of their more hum-drum defences. Just a bit of PR on the side to get fights talked about.

But the way he has gone after Fury suggests that he's deluded enough to believe he is still a relevant contender.
