As liamlion has said above, he was stopped in the first fight, but NOT 'knocked out' by any stretch of the imagination. Whether you agree or disagree with the stoppage, he wasn't 'knocked out', the 'TKO' stoppage doesn't really work in that situation IMO.

Nobody is arguing about the second fight, in which he was laid out big time.

The point is though that groves said he had abandoned him in the past too. To what extent is unknown but it would suggest that all was not well for some time

There is a surprising story behind the whole debacle. Possibly a factor to why Haye also left later,

I think George missed being with booth and went with paddy who worked alongside him for times.

George is a good boxer and can with the right guidance get back in contention, which I think he will get with shane.

I felt after the split he felt he needed just tweaking, then came the "stoppage" and suddenly with just his tweaking he got close to a world title(think he would have won with booth there and not getting caught on the ropes) so stuck with paddy and didn't do anything major before Wembley and walked onto the right of carl and went to sleep like a baby with legs spread like a baby giraffe.

This would prompt an attitude change from most but not George he came again and lost v badou jack which is where I think he has now changed his outlook and gone to a trainer who will work on probably his biggest let down, his stamina and condition. I think 2016 will see George groves get back in the mix for a title shot at somoene

i feel groves needs two wins against quality opposition to earn another 'tilt'. he may well get found out during one of these preparation bouts.

In all honesty when a fighter is talented they seem to think winning a world title should be easy, they forget there's someone else who really wants to win. I think Booth is overrated but I think he allowed Groves to throw shots that came naturally to him - the looping right that got Paul Smith for eg. I think Paddy tried to smooth those shots out of him and straighten everything up, it was a mistake. Groves is very athletic, very quick and powerful and if his head were right he can do well again. I'm fed up of fighters trying to nick fights by doing just a touch more than the other guy - they need to get in there and do their upmost and leave everything in there.

Most of you probably aren't aware but George Groves was knocked out by a fighter called Carl Froch in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley stadium. He hasn't been the same since that fight.

Wish Groves all the best but I agree with a lot of this. The way he tried to come across as knowing something that nobody else did in the Froch fights made me cringe. Don't really like the way he seemed to shift the blame for the Jack loss to his trainer either, especially when at the same time he says he won that fight. If he truly won the fight then surely the judges were to blame and not Paddy Fitzpatrick?

Either way, he needs to get a few wins under his belt against solid fighters such as Stieglitz, Sturm, Murray or Bute before he's fighting for another title in my opinion.

It seemed to me the time management was not directly regarding other fighters. It was more to do with being trained by other coaches when he wanted to be trained by Booth. Rightly so, as Booth takes a percentage of the purse.
