I didn't think it was about money like everyone else did.

Groves really did suffer without Booth though. In both Froch fights. I think he might have won them with Booth in his camps all along.

Always someone else's fault with that lad. He's starting to remind me of Kevin Mitchell with all the sulking

Would have 100% win the first with Booth in the corner.

Abandoned him many times in the past? Interesting quote from Groves. I think there is a lot more to this. Groves said at the presser that its good to be back in the same gym as Haye and Shane is pushing David more than hes ever been pushed or words to that effect. Sounded like a dig at Booth to me.

Slightly off topic, but I'm sick of hearing Sky calling Booth a 'master tactician' etc. It's just drivel based on the fact the Groves beat Degale and Haye ran from Valuev all night. Hardly took a genius to work out that game plan. Give me a break, Booth is massively overrated.

100%? Impossible to say. Just as likely to gas out as per usual. He ain't got the stamina at elite level.

But this is just Groves not looking in the right place again.

My logic behind that is Froch wasn't as bothered that night as he usually was and was there for the taking hence with Booth in the corner I think Groves would have stuck to a game plan. All ifs and buts though.

Instead he got stopped early saving him from a bad stoppage, then to get totally KTFO in the rematch in front of 80 thousand fans in Wembley no less.

I don't think so tbh. Wasn't his tactics that let him down in that fight. Froch just caught up with him. He looked as if he missed Booth more in the rematch.

FFS maybe Booth did let him down. Maybe he had before like he said. Maybe he is telling the truth. It happens and to be honest it pisses me off the assumption of lying, not taking responsibility etc. Bad shit happens, people to feck us over. It happens. Maybe it actually did.

I think groves is a gobshite blaming others for his losses is delusional. Only have yourself to blame when you lose a fight by ko!

Booth is a glorified gym instructor, he knows very little tbh.

I would of gone along with Booth being over-rated about a year ago.
Haye was a natural talent who could of won titles with any trainer in his corner.
He got his rep for Groves from the DeGale fight. For me this was decided by DeGale switching off like he does in rounds.

Andy lee changed my opinion as I feel he has massively improved under Booth. Lee used to box and come unstuck. He's lost more rounds under Booth but he's somehow gave Lee this huge confidence in his punch and it's paid dividends.
They have over-achieved as I think his win over Korobov was really under-rated. Lees faith in booth is stronger than I've seem from a fighter in a very long time, so it's obvious he's doing something right there.

The proof in the pudding for me will be Ryan Burnett. Hugely talented but raw and in need of polishing. If Booth is as good as some believe we should see a future star and a improvement in coming fights.
For the record I thought he looked poor against Booth.

He abandoned him many times in the past. Groves should now be prepared to back that comment up with substance, its not a good thing to put out there about someone without explaining himself, otherwise its just defimation.

I'm curious to know why Haye has not returned to Booth - i wonder if it could be for similar reasons?

Didn't booth say he wouldn't work with him from the point of his retirement, even if there was a comeback?

I still can't work out whether it was Haye or Booth who thought up the pantomime before the Klitschko fight? I think it was simplistic in the extreme to think that they could wind Klitschko up so much that he would come out swinging like a lunatic teenager in a playground scrap. As well as the TShirt shenanigans they also did a ridiculously silly delay to the ring walk to keep Klitschko waiting. They had Lennox Lewis walking out Haye (it was Foreman for Klitschko I think?) and Lennox was stood on camera waiting along with everyone else. It looked like a phycological strategy devised by a 7 year old. And then of course Haye's performance in the ring is etched in all our memories. Something definitely wasn't working between the team strategically, with proportional apportioning of blame obviously hard to call looking from the outside. It was inevitable IMO that there was no logical going back for Haye/Booth after that night.

I think Haye claimed that he was getting an injection for his toe/foot , which is what caused the delay. Regardless of whether that's true, I think it's far worse that Wlad's team engineered it for him to walk through the crowd to get to the ring.

But Booth still trained him for the Chisora fight and was also training him for the Charr and Fury fights. I think it was after the shoulder surgery that Booth stated he wouldn't be part of any comeback. I agree with you on the psychological tactics for the Klitschko fight though. Failed miserably.

Why all the hate for St George - 3 world title fights in all of which he did himself justice. Sure he talks some shit sometimes but don't most of' em.

I wonder what exactly happened for them to fall out? Other than just Booth abandoning Groves in his time of need.

Lee has been extremely lucky. He was almost banged out by Quillen in 1. He was behind against Jackson, who got overconfident and behind against Korobov before he landed his right hook. I'll agree that his right hook is currently the best punch in boxing but he had it before Booth. Lee was dropping down to 154 only a few fights ago remember. Booth is pretty overrated but one thing he does do is take control and have his fighters fight his way. We saw what happens when Groves tried to do it all his way vs Froch.
