Dumbest answer of the year.Undefeated49-0 wrote:Wow someone is apparently short on reading comprehension!! two virtual nobodies at MW and one who wasn't even a real MW, lol I suggest you take some lessons or by Hooked on Phonics or maybe the new book that came out "Reading Comprehension for Dummies" lol.

No way you can call all 3 of GGG's opponents top 5.Ricky_ wrote:Golovkin by a mile.
He took on 3 top 5 middleweights and knocked all 3 of them out without getting out of 2nd gear. It's not just results that matter but the manner of them. Golovkin has the best balance of opponent quality to level of performance.
Boxing fans actually trying to reward Floyd and Fury for what they did in 2015 is exactly what is wrong with the sport. Wtf is wrong with you people? These guys are rightly ridiculed for embarrassing themselves in a way you never would have seen even 20 years ago. Gtfo here.

I agree with Lemiuex. You could even make an argument for MurrayRicky_ wrote:tiny_acres wrote:No way you can call all 3 of GGG's opponents top 5.Ricky_ wrote:Golovkin by a mile.

If you have Golovkin at 1 who's the next best 5 at mw?
Was Murray? Was Monroe? Was Lemiuex?
I never (ever) picked Pac over FMJ. I am continuing to claim that FMJ v Pac was a farce. I called it at the final press conference and nothing has emerged that could dissuade me from continuing to hold that position.Undefeated49-0 wrote:Wow someone is apparently short on reading comprehension!! So Fury beats a guy who's over 40 that hugs him to death while Floyd easily beats the Great Manny Pacquiao that you guys said would not only beat Floyd but also KO him and he's wins tying a 60 year old record and you still hang your hat on Fury.FMJ v Pac was a farce. FMJ v Berto was a walkover.
Fury is the fighter of the year 2015
lol, you guys are a real joke, it really hurts you so called "boxing fans" to admit the truth.
tiny_acres wrote:I can see an honest argument for GGG,Floyd and Fury.
Fury beat the long reigning seemingly invincible Klitschko and a win over a top 25 fighter in Hammer.
Floyd having the Pac victory and the cakewalk Berto fight.
GGG had 3 victories one over another belt holder 1 over a top 10 and one over a top 15
All being said I would have to rate their years as Fury,Floyd and then GGG.
Fury had the best year of any of the other fighters.
FMJ v Pac and Fury v WKlit were both silly. The difference is one was a farce and the other was a Who Does The Best Oaf competition.SFW wrote:I think Mayweather gets it.. made a hall of famer look silly then cruises by a 2x world champion. The Fury win over Klitchko was significant but I don't think it outweighs what Floyd did over the whole year.

Yeah fair enough, Monroe is green and has a thin resume. However he's clearly a talented southpaw who probably gave GGG his best fight to date and will be among a MW top 10 over the next few years.tiny_acres wrote:

But no way in hell is Monroe
Pump the brakes, Tony. Like I said, Tyson Fury has every right to sleep and shower with that belt on and forever be called the Heavyweight Champion of the World but there's nothing remotely close to a display of "The Sweet Science" in the ring that night. The dullness was not caused by a blend of technical brilliance, it was caused by a 40 year old man with eroded skills and reflexes finally getting in the ring with a larger, younger opponent and not having an answer. It's a GREAT win for the Brits and I was rooting for Fury every step of the way and I also love his act but he's no Fighter of the Year.Tony1244 wrote:caldo2025 wrote:Ok, that did it....officially puked on myself. C'Mon, Caldo. True the fight wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be, a truism about boxing is often the more talent in the ring, the "duller" the fight is. Think Leonard-Benetiz or Mosley-DeLaHoya or Mayweather-DeLaHoya. Regarding your insult to Fury, sure he says stupid stuff, but he all but admitted he does that to draw attention and sell tickets.

And let's be honest, the belts aside, most people wouldn't include Tyson Fury in their top 5 of current heavyweights right now. He just happened to be in the right place and the right time. Just like Cotto and Sergio, very similar. But Fury is the current champ of the world and owner of the most treasured title there is in the sport. Giving him that title is more than enough in my opinion.

Stop beating round the bush. Fury is garbage. He's a flabby clumsy mess with no chin, no poise, no fluidity, no power, no athleticism and no class. Kudos though for having long arms and alot of height. FOTY... gtfo here!!
You'd have to be a proper dullwit to not have Fury in the top 5 at heavyweight.Tony1244 wrote:You guys are just playing The Hate Game. To say Fury isn't in the top 5 HWs is patently ridiculous.

You guys are just playing The Hate Game. To say Fury isn't in the top 5 HWs is patently ridiculous. I should clarify one point, I wasn't comparing Fury at this point, to Mosley or Benetiz in the P4P department, I was just making an analogy that some fights can look "dull" when they're relatively evenly matched. Fury has a good jab, can switch from orthodox to southpaw as well as about anyone I've ever seen and has some power, even though it's not great. If everything falls into place, Fury turning into a Lennox Lewis or a Klitschko is possible, albeit not probable. He has no class, but otherwise you guys are just on the hate bandwagon by belittling his obvious talent.
How many decent heavyweights capable of fighting on the inside with a bit of pop are there?Ricky_ wrote:I have Tyson Furry #1 at HW by virtue of beating old man clinchers. But his stint at the top ends against the first decent HW capable of fighting on the inside and has a bit of pop.
