Not sure i would make GG a favourite still. Sturm is a smart guy, even on the slide he is difficult to beat.
I think hes the easiest of the 4 champs.
De Carolis next then onto Sturm...

Brophy has 1 ko? Not exactly ambitious matchmaking.

Brophy has been sparring Callum Smith recently, that's about it. Shocker of a fight and on the April 9th card. Eddie needs to flog a PPV, who does he call....GG.

I've seen Brophy a few times, decent boxer but this is a blow out - less a step up in class than a leap into fire!

The matchmaking does pretty much show that Murray v Groves is a done deal though

I've seen Brophy a couple of times and he is decent but as an opponent for Groves? No way. Good opportunity for him though. He only has 1 KO but I seen that KO and it was a peach. Should be on YouTube. I'm sure Billy Nelson who posts on here trains or trained him?

This bout is nothing more than a card filler so Eddie can use George's name on the PPV. I was wondering a while ago when Brophy was going to take a step up in competition but this is a little higher a step than what I was expecting! Fair play to him though and hopefully he's getting a good purse.

I heard this a few days ago but didn't believe it- now I do. Far too big a step up for Brophy.

He was pretty close against froch the first time round but the stamina lost him the fight. He thought he had already beaten froch in the second fight and came a cropper. He was mouthing off about knocking jack out and lost yet again in a world title shot. Some called it close but I was not so sure. I feel he needs to build by beating 2 or 3 people of decent calibre before calling out all of the current crop of champions.
I don't see how fighting a very tough opponent for no title is less pressure than doing the same for a title.
It makes perfect sense to me. Groves has failed at 3 title attempts. He will feel huge pressure not to fail again quite separate from who he is fighting.
It's like someone who keeps failing their driving test but can drive around perfectly with a friend or parent.

You can perform much better without the pressure of the big reward waiting for you.

Wonder if they will attach some meaningless International type title to this.

I'm going with Dr. Fudgehammer, David Brophy by KO. Nobody can stand his power.

Or, seriously, Groves by KO in the 4th or 5th.

You should try sharing a ring with him and seeing how you stand up to his power...

David Brophy is a tough lad, physically very strong and always fit. I have difficulty explaining why he has only one KO because he is a solid puncher. I think having watched many of his fights, that his accuracy and timing are a bit out. He's also got a solid chin, but he was 'gone' momentarily against Tobias Webb and was nearly stopped.
Every opponent I've seen him in against has ended up battered and bruised around the body, shoulders and side of the head, which gives you an idea about how he fights. He' s also a nice lad,and former professional footballer. Like most on here, I think Groves is a step too far, unfortunately.
Groves is very sharp and now has world level experience. If Brophy can get past the first 3 rounds, Groves will know he's been in a fight. Personally I see the ref or his trainer pulling him out after 8 or 9 rounds. But he'll come out with a lot of credit, and done enough to secure a British title fight down the road.

But that's irrelevant.

It's like claiming David Price hasn't got a glass jaw because I wouldn't be able to KO him.

Nah it's not. You are trying to make a mug of him and take the piss as if he's a joke. If he's such a joke then I'd like to see you enter a ring and take a dig off him and see if you're laughing afterwaRds.
If you are going to critique a boxer then have a bit more respect.

Does anyone give a toss about Murray vs Groves. Totally irrelevant fight for me. Just make groves vs smith and Murray vs Ryder.

Eddies reticence to match his fighters together creates utter shit throughout the year.

I think it's generally considered that fans wouldn't be able to stand up to a round of sparring with any fighter they critique, isn't it? In the same way that football fans describe 'awful' footballers.

Don't take it personally FFS. I'm guessing you have some sort of connection to David?
