Rewatched THREE more times??? All the credit must go to Team Ward.

You only need to watch the fight once to realize Kovalev was robbed blind... The 10th round tells the whole story... If the judges scored that clear Kovalev round for Kovalev they get the right winner... So they all gave it to Ward, keeping him in the fight.
In Kovalev's previous fight in Russia -- the Russian commission did not appoint a single Russian official... For the Ward fight the NSAC appointed 3 American judges and an American referee... That's when I posted that it would be a robbery... I knew Kovalev wasn't likely to KO Ward, who's a great boxer.

Yeah, watching it live, I knew the score. After Kovalev clearly won the 10th, but the crowd cheered on Ward in salvage of it, I said the judges will score with the crowd, and ridiculously all 3 of them did. That is simply all it comes down to. Hometown decision.

Re: Who has re-watched Ward-Kovalev?
There are very few fights that I choose to watch multiple times. I thoroughly enjoy watching the classics over-and-over again, such as Hearns-Hagler, but I don’t feel motivated to sit through another twelve rounds deeply analysing the Kovalev-Ward fight in order to gain evidence to strengthen some sort of theory.jezzamundo wrote:Who has re-watched Ward-Kovalev?
The judges are only given the opportunity to watch fights once, from one particular angle and unlike us, they aren’t allowed to revise their scores armed with the benefit of hindsight, despite the criticism they often receive from fight fans.
So why should we unfairly try to undermine them by studiously scrutinising multiple slow motion replays covering the action from several viewpoints, performing a meticulous punch count and generally gathering evidence to support our claims?
The Kovalev-Ward fight was only mildly intriguing to watch first time around, it would be hideously tedious to view the same contest again, so I prefer to stick with my original perception when I watched the bout live.
This isn’t a criticism of you personally, it’s just my general opinion on performing a detailed autopsy of controversial bouts.

I bet dropping acid a half hour beforehand would really open up the fight.Impractical Poster wrote:Ok. Watching it live, I had Kovalev winning. However, it was a little late and I had been drinking.
So, I am reading these guys on here saying that you must watch it with the commentary off to possibly see it Ward's way. So, I decided to shut off the lights, kick the family out of the house, draw the blinds, shut off my cell phone, and limit my blinking. Like magic, I had Ward winning that time.
Just today, I was thinking I need a Rubber Viewing to find out who the winner is once and for all. But this time I wanted to completely submerge myself into the fight. Luckily, I have a friend who runs the planetarium at a smallish university downtown. He is a boxing fan and enjoyed the idea of putting the fight on in the planetarium. So, we did. Instead of the commentary and crowd noise, we put on very relaxing meditation music. It was crazy. Every punch landed felt like it was landing on me. I almost couldn't take the first round. Then the second round came. Kovalev landed that vicious shot that sent Ward to the canvas, and it basically paralyzed me. It was too much with the meditation music and all. I stopped right there and decided to give Kovalev the victory by 2nd round KO.

Definitely warrants a rematch

second that.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Supremo wrote:I watched it i British commentary and on American commentary. Americans place FAR too much importance and respect to compubox stats. Every round it was giving the stats- who cares? It's just a human being sitting making judgements in real time with their own eyes- you so that yourself whilst watching a fight anyway.I despise compubox.

I bet if you watch it while standing on your head, you will have Ward winning.
