Re: Dunn v Brophy
Bloody hell, what a shocker (for me, anyway).
I've been following Dunn for a couple of years - partly because Dunn is my Mum's maiden name/the Irish half of my family & also because I do like to keep an eye on Aussie boxers.
Would never had had Brophy winning by stoppage. It just goes to show anything can happen, especially if you put the work in. Excellent win for him & let's hope Dunn can regroup. He's young enough to learn from this.
A bout for David against the winner of Rocky & The Gorilla would be a good match up.
In more important news, on the same bill Czar Amonsot stopped Zsigmond Vass in the 0 round. This could be the quickest stoppage in boxing history![[icon_e_surprised.gif] :oo](./images/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)

Wonder if east side will still be full of trolls mocking billy and Brophy's power. No nothing roasters.

Great win for David Brophy and Billy Nelson, not much people on here gave him a chance and it just goes to show that if you put the hard work in and are ready to take these types of chances that winning these fights can be done. Hopefully now we can see Brophy getting his chance on SKY or allegedly in a defence of the title!

This is an internet forum, it's where people like me, who don't know their arse from their elbow come to sound like experts.

i hope last night pleased youdalcumly wrote:Billy
I have tried for years to work out why Brophy doesn't stop more opponents. He is a big strong lad and seems to punch very hard, but there's something missing. You know, I'm no expert but having seen him close up I think he actually 'stops' his punches as they land - in other words he doesn't follow through.
I don't know if you've ever played golf? But, a big problem for some golfers off the tee is that the club slows down just after they hit the ball and the club doesn't swing right round. It means that when the club hits the ball the golfer doesn't get full power. I knew its a strange analogy but its the only way I can get my point over. I think David needs to punch THROUGH his opponent NOT punch AT him. Instead of landing on the target, he should be striking six inches BEYOND the target!!!
Does this make sense? What do I know ???

Fair play David brophy

Re: Dunn v Brophy
Congratulations to Brophy on the win.
An upset in the view of many. But he got the job done.
Some interesting comments from Brophy afterward :
“With the work I’ve put in, I deserve this. Zac was tough, but we did what we were supposed to do. We watched a lot of Zac’s fights and he keeps his elbows up. When the body shots started landing, we knew it was going to be over early.”

Re: Dunn v Brophy
Quite an impressive stoppage, looks like Brophy tasted a bit of blood when he had his man hurt and stepped it up a gear without getting carried away. Well done.

Billy
I am pleased, in fact delighted. Did he punch 'through' his opponent. Maybe David could take up golf now !!

Re: Dunn v Brophy
I only came to this thread as I remembered people giving Billy stick over the handling of Brophys career even on another thread saying what a cock up taking the Groves fight was while Billy was saying it was an invaluable lesson.
Goes to show that the forum frequenters on the outside of the sport although knowledgable and passionate often miss insider stuff of importance. I include myself there as I thought Haye would walk through Bellew even with just one arm and one leg. Sometimes, we just read it all wrong and the guys involved know their stuff
Well done to Brophy and Billy too

Re: Dunn v Brophy
Can't help but feel Dunn's team looked at Brophy's record, saw a low ko ratio and a stoppage loss and thought their man would just walk straight through him. Just goes to show that you can't judge a fighter by their record.
Well done Brophy, tactics were spot on.
Next up I think he should be looking to unify with the winner of Fielding/Ryder.

Agreed, nice job of scouting and game planning by the professionals in Team Brophy
