Riddick Bowe beaten brainless and senseless... Lennox Lewis flattened... Both of them got hammered and that's what they have in common with Ali.
Never happened to AJ and never will.

Frank Bruno was a punching bag similar to Ali... He got decked a few times and knocked out just like happed to Ali... Never happened to AJ and never will.
Ali's last year or two isn't what he was his whole career. In my opinion Ali's prime ended after 1967 when he was banned from the sport. Making statements like he was a punching bag similar to Bruno is making you the biggest clown on the forum. I would say troll, but doubt you would understand the difference.

Ali was a good fast fighter in his prime... He still got decked, got his jaw broken, and got beaten... And a man's prime doesn't end when he's 25... Ali came back at at the age of 28.. He claimed he was better and stronger than ever and I agree.
Many Heavyweight Champions lost many years off their careers --- Foreman missed 10 years... Jeffries missed 6 years... Holmes missed 5 years... Tyson missed 4 years... Louis missed 4 years... Vitali Klitschko missed 4 years... Dempsey missed 3 years... Nobody cries for them.
90% of the money Ali made -- and the biggest fights he engaged in -- came after you claim his prime was over.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I thought this one was rather humorous, bearing in mind the claims being made.
I can also list several other threads of a similar nature claiming that AJ was the greatest British heavyweight in history.
And surprisingly, many people agreed with some of these outrageous claims!
For the record, I don’t want to kick a fighter when he’s down, because I always thought that AJ was a good fighter, but perhaps underserving of all the media hype that had been lavished upon him prematurely. It was if he was given an honorary rite of passage to greatness without having earned it.
I hope he can make a comeback and eventually earns his place in the Hall-of-Fame. And I suspect that having tasted defeat could be a weight off his mind, as expectations will inevitably become more in line with reality.
Regardless, there are a hell of a lot of comical posts and threads proposing the notion that AJ is one of the greatest heavyweights in history.
