Anthony Joshua - The second coming of Muhammad Ali?

Post by Enlightened-One »

"Anthony Joshua's rise could be 'second coming of Muhammad Ali', say media in USA" (Source: The Telegraph):

"Anthony Joshua's creeping presence as a global sports star resonated in the heart of Manhattan on Tuesday as veteran US boxing writers and broadcasters referred to the IBF heavyweight champion as "the next Muhammad Ali" and "the kid who has all the tools" to re-ignite American public interest in the sport's blue riband division."

Thoughts?

Not my opinion. None of the quotes or third party sources contained within this thread are mine.

I have refrained from expressing my thoughts on the matter for obvious reasons.

Do you care to acknowledge these facts and retract your criticism?

Then why bother to post it? You evidently agree with the article or you would have said you didn't. (other than the fact that you seem to have a sort of idiosyncratic need for attention)

Joshua compares more to Bruce Seldon than Ali - body wise and personality/charisma wise - :OhYes:

There is nothing in his character that is remotely comparable
There is nothing in his fighting style that is remotely comparable

The only reasonable comparison is that Ali is an ATG heavyweight and Joshua has the potential to be

So by that standard I can just proclaim Mikey Garcia the new Roberto Duran and Errol Spence the new Sugar Ray Robinson

New Ali? No chance. They'll probably never be another

Can he reignite the interest in the division? Quite probably, yes.

I find the article provocative and intriguing. I wanted to encourage debate, due to the highly controversial claims being made.

Is that unreasonable?

They aren't talking about Joshua's boxing and punching ability in reference to Ali... AJ boxes and punches much better and harder than Ali... This has to do with the amount of enthusiasm and controversy that Joshua generates... Ali had his haters... Joshua has his haters -- almost all of whom are Americans.

He doesn't have any of Ali's wit or charisma, and his fighting style isn't even similar.

People disliked Ali because he was cocky and spoke his mind, people dislike Joshua for being transparently fake, witless, and overhyped.

You REALLY post this? Did you hear that swoosh sound? That's what little credibility you have getting sucked out the window. You should delete this bro as fast as you can. Save yourself.

If you'd learned how to read, you would surely realise that none of those words are mine and nor do they reflect my thoughts.

I don't expect you to respond to this post, since it's abundantly clear that you cannot possibly refute the objective truths of reality.

..there's one more thing which largely contributed to Ali becoming the "world greatest"..he refused to take part in the war waged by his country in Vietnam, something which made him famous overnight throughout the world, especially in a Communist Russia and its numerous allies. He became the hero daring to stand up to American imperialism.. that as well as being an excellent boxer with a unique style plus his big mouth made him the one and only.. :o

Does Joshua come anywhere near in all these aspects? I don't think so..

I've been done reading your stuff for a while, thanks. Anyone that would go out of there way to post that topic or anyone else's ridiculous thoughts of the like are all in the same dink boat to me. I hope it sinks.

So in other words, all you need to do is read a few words written by other forum members, not even an entire thread title, to be compelled to submit multiple irrational incoherent abusive posts on multiple threads complaining about the things that they wrote.

Good for you! It’s good to see you try your upmost to maintain your reputation.

Fergus, why do you think you antagonise people so much? Is it always their fault?
