So many PAC fans, so much silence.

I'm excited Pac is fighting on basic cable TV for a change instead of PPV or HBO!! I'd like to see him facing someone a little tougher than Horn but PAc is as entitled to have a stay-busy fight as anyone else in boxing!!

If it's as exciting and action-packed as most of Pac's other fights I'll be satisfied.

What do you base your statement on that Pac is only a shadow of what he used to be? In his last two fights he dominated two guys that are in their prime, and were no slouches. Roach claims he could be very competitive with any top welter, although he is being very selective.
Fans should not be hypocritical and give Pacquiao a pass because of his age. His competition has nothing to do with his age, it is simply in house fights that Arum wants, and can make the most money with. The ONLY top guy Pac will fight before retirement is Crawford, because Arum makes the most money.
I remember the Pac that threw 1000 punches per fight. The one who once nailed people with 7 shot combos. In those days he also went for the kill when he got opponent hurt.
Now days Pac throws less and less punches in every bout. He is also happy to cruise into points victory even if he has fighter he could stop in front of him. Good example is the Algieri fight. I had the feeling that old Pac would have blasted him out in few rounds.
In my opinion Pac has really underrated defense. He is that good that even when he has maybe 75% left of hes physical gifts he can still compete at the highest level.
I am not interested at mismatches but if that's all that Pac wants I don't mind. I will just simply ignore those fights.
You remember Manny stuffed to the gills with ped's. That's really the only difference. He's not prime but he's slipped minimally. A lot of people, not saying you, just have to say he's way past it because if he wasn't they'd have to credit Floyd for taking him to school.
In my own estimate Pac juicing is pretty probable. On the other hand the same goes for Floyd. And pretty much all top boxers.
The requirements for boxer are pretty insane. You need to be fast and explosive. And have the stamina to go full 12 rounds of non stop action. On top of that you need to have strength and muscles to do some wrestling and to protect your body from punches. That's hell of a package to achieve. I think that is the reason why PED's are so commonly used and effective in boxing.
Pac being trough many wars and being 38 years old is also a huge factor.

I don't rule out any athletes, Manny was as obvious as they come. Epo is a boxers dream.

I'm interested in it because it is Manny Pacquiao - one of the true all time greats who for me is still very high in the P4P equation, until he looses I think he warrants it. He's fought decent guys post Mayweather and has looked pretty good.
I don't know much about Horn, but this could be a potential bannana skin - if there is ever a "Leon Spinks" moment in a great's career, this one is it.

I agree.
If Pac has slipped much he could be seriously troubled here. Horn is a brawler who doesn't mind grappling, throwing an occasional relatively well concealed elbow, testing how low he can get away with, holding while hitting, etc.. The kid has a good engine, works the body very well and he has a right hand that could potentially hurt Pac.
Of course, he hasn't been in with anything within two levels of Manny. He has never dealt with the kind of quick feet and hands coming from places you simply cannot see.
That said, this kid shows real toughness and he is very active and constantly on top of his opponents. If Horn can clip Manny early with a solid right hand, he may be able to do a SOGgy on him; sap his strength and dominate late for a close decision.

The big thing for Horn will be how good or bad he deals with the early knockdown that's going to happen to him.
Old or not Manny still has the hand speed and punches from odd angles that have surprised so many opponents in the early rounds.
They think they're prepared for it and then they're sitting down in the ring.
If he gets past that moment without getting his confidence crushed he might make it interesting, if not he'll be target practice for the remainder of the evening.
Horn doesn't need to actually beat Pac to boost his own career. This fight is giving him a lot of exposure and if he gives Pac a better than expected fight it will boost his future drawing power and earning potential.

38 is a very interesting age in boxing..
Ali at 36 won the HW Title back from Leon Spinks.
but at 38 he was just a shell of his former self against Larry Holmes. Louis was Competitive against Ezzard Charles at 36 but looked an ols man against Marciano at 38... How much has Pacquiao lost in terms of fight time ring know how. This has the potential to be the fight of the year..I think Horn will get caught with some big shots and will go down but will get back up again.
Has Pacman still got that killer instinct and ths ability to finish off Horn?
I think if the fight goes past 6 or 7 rounds Horn Wins.

I started this thread and voted as a eunic.
But last night Management over ruled me.
So it looks like I am going to PPV and watch it.
I have been told this does not affect us getting the Canelo GGG fight. She who must be obeyed loves GGG.
So all's well that ends well.
Better be a good fight. Manny looks decent in the latest edited offerings. Horn will be fitter than fit for sure. He is a tough battler that any Aussie can be proud of.
Roll on the weekend.
