Exactly, someone who gets it. Even the most crazed Ward fans thought he was on the decline in that fight. He was supposed to steamroll Barrera who looked pretty average prior. It wasn't until Barrera KO'd Shabranskyy that people started thinking of him as a top fighter.

Ward didn't outclass Barrera, though. You're drinking the HBO Kool-Aid. A lot of people thought Ward didn't look great. Also, Barrera went into the Ward fight with no experience at the top level. Dude was still very much in the prospect stage of his career.

I had to look back on the fight to make sure I wasn't mistaken. Barerra was competitive, but was beaten with no questions.
The Scoring: 117-109, 117-109, 119-107. Barrera went down once in Round 3. Barerra has had two fights since then, and the Ward fight was in March of 2016. It was also Ward's first fight at 175.

Maybe you should try some Kool-Aid.
Thing is, I'm not at all saying Barrera won. My point still stands, though. It was competitive throughout. It wasn't close, but people cited that fight as Ward declining. I also give zero fcks what the judges scorecards are for any fight. The fact that you cite them tells me a lot about you.
Good, remember it. Remember that I don't just pull stats out of my ass in order to support my opinion.

Uh, in effect, by saying judges scorecards, you really are. The fact that you don't understand it tells me how much of a casual fan you are.

So now everyone has finished debating the scores etc, can we give big props to Joe Jr for fighting 8 rounds with a broken jaw.
90% of guys would quit but Joe didn't.

 Bloody legend!

Hope the surgery goes well and we can see this hero of the common man come back and fight again :yay:

Barrera won the fight. Nobody outclassed nobody. It was a okay fight where both landed a lot on the guard or punched in the air. Classic home descision. Barrera landed the clearer punches, snapped ward head a couple of times back. Barrera ud win, kovalev ud win, kovalev II dq win. Ward lost these 3 fights. All gifts. He wont never face bertebiev or gvozdyk. Those guys dont gass after 6 rds and have equal or more punching power than kovalev..
In your expert opinion, has Ward ever won a legitimate boxing match, or did he win because of a hometown advantage or by cheating?

Just as I thought, Joe was injured. Fought with a broken jaw from early in the second on.

Absolutely tough as nails. It was clear Joe wasn't fighting like he does, the ref was even questioning him about it in the corner but Smith is a warrior. I'd be interested to see a rematch down the line.
