Yeah I took Smith at 2/1. I couldn't believe it. I expect the odds to come down quick and maybe Smith will end up favorite.

Marcus Browne -550 vs Seanie Monaghan.

For me Barrera and Smith are equals as fighters. Whenever that is the case take the + money.

So is that like 1/2 or 2/1. Is Browne favorite or Monaghan? :bag:

That is like Browne being a 2/11 favourite

Monaghan has been protected for good reason and I think Browne should handle him fairly easily.

Browne will batter Monaghan.

Smith Barrera is an even match up in my opinion but I wouldn't be surprised if either scored an early knock out or dominant points decision.

I do have a soft spot for Smith though. Mainly because he battered Hopkins

A bet on Smith seems like it would be a pretty good idea.

Smith has overachieved v a dinosaur and a chinny gatekeeper. Don't get me wrong, I like the dude, and I hope that he can pull this off, but Barrera has been looking very good. The Cuban is better than anyone that Smith has faced. The same cannot be said for Smith, given Barrera has been in with the P4P #1. :OhYes:

My heart is with Smith but I have to favor Barrera here.

I'd say the smith odds at 2-1 are about right. There's good noise around him after the hopkins fight but that has to be put into perspective.

Barrera is the better fighter and should win imo. It's no foregone conclusion though

Then again, Barrera's best win is arguably over Shabranskyy, who is less proven than Fonfara and had already been badly hurt and dropped multiple times by someone named Paul Parker. Barrera has also been down in at least three fights, and it can be said that mediocre guys like Alex Brand and Paul Smith have been in with someone tougher than anyone Smith has faced.

Barrera has a skill edge and that makes him a favourite for me, but it's a fight where I don't have too much confidence about the winner.

Absolutely. This fight is certainly no foregone conclusion. I just favor Barrera. Smith could definitely take him out, or even score a close, controversial decision. He seems to keep improving but I think Barrera has too.

Smith has beaten the better fighter but Barrera has competed well with the best fighter. I am really looking forward to this one and I wish it had been included on PTBF.

Nice. :TU:
There is a hype train about both fighters. Your post puts Barrera in perspective. I think he is the better boxer, but I give Joe Jr a punchers chance for sure. I only judge Joe on his last 3 fights because before that he was a part time boxer, since he became a full timer, I've been successively impressed. Good betting odds too.

I think that this fight may surpass Berchelt v Miura for fight of the weekend, although I am meditating on an Abraham KTFO of Eubank Jr. :OhYes:

I want to believe in Smith. I really do but I think that his chin is soft. I've seen several of his fights and he's been buzzed in most of them with some surprisingly light punches. Right before he caught Fonfara, he was on sketchy legs by a less than stellar punch by Fanfara. I hope he's the real deal...his power sure is real...but I'm not investing in the guy until I can see he can take a punch from a top level fighter.

Joe Smith, so naturally strong, also has that will to throw hard leather. Barrera, from what I've seen, classic boxer, good jab and straight, good distance and solid movement. If Smith can swarm him, upset his rhythm. Might become a battle of wills and a good fight. Or, Barrera will jab him to death. I hope smith can land on him. Very interesting.

I feel the same but I also thought he'd lose his last two bouts. So I hope I'm wrong again.

Barrera really impressed me against Shabranskyy. Shabranskyy's record suggested he was a puncher but Barrera made him look slow and basic so I think he might be too skilled again tonight. Smith has youth on his side though and looks as though he'll carry his power to a high level of opposition. Going with Barrera UD (8-4/9-3) but hoping for another Smith upset.
