Numbers ranged from 70 + people where I watched it and none of them saw it for Canelo from what I saw.

In the post fight presser, Golovkin sounded very disappointed.

my opinion: GGG got robbed, ive had it 116-112 for GGG, 115-113 if i am kind to Canelo. But ive seen bigger roberies and thankfully it was a draw and not Canelo victory. I am fan of both and despite of outcome, i liked a fight a lot both was good tonight. Adelaide Byrd should be fined for this and Oscar is b!tch

That was an all time worst from Max he lowered the bar and lost credibility tonight.

At least Larry Merchant would have called out people.
When the mantle of HBO analysts was passed the credibility most certain wasn't.

Fight Hype scored it a draw at 114-114, but I read that most people in the press scored it a close win for GGG or a draw. Punch stats favor GGG. GGG landed more punches and jabs, but Canelo landed only 4 more power punches than GGG.

I think fightscorecollector said on Twitter that 116-112 and 115-113 GGG are by far the most common scores he's seeing. People scoring it a draw or win for Canelo suggests that they required less from him than GGG...

For me Golovkin won clearly. I have him ahead of 4/5 rounds.

What worries me, is what exactly is the training these judges are receiving? They seem to think it enables them to judge a fight better than trainers and fighters. Someone I know is now a world championship level judge and he scored the fight 6-6 and I've disagreed with his scoring the more experience he has had as a judge.

I remember CJ Ross arguing against the critisism by saying the people criticising her and hadn't received the level of training that she has. But judging is generally not hard, the good guys in the press seem to get it right more often than the judges as do fighters and trainers who don't let their own bias get in the way. So what exactly is this training teaching them? Because it's not teaching them to pick up on things that fighters and trainers would've missed during the fight. After all most judges are just super fans who get paid to watch their fights and input their (sadly wrong too often) opinion. Why is it that the 'experts' so often get it wrong? It has to come down training.

Canelo did fight well, but he didn't fight enough and his defence wasn't good enough to get away with the style he tried to employ. GGG outlanded him, took centre ring, controlled, dictated and forced the fight. Canelos power shots looked good but they had the same amount of effect as one of GGGs jabs which consistently snapped his head back. It's hard to be a boxing fan at times like this, the officials are either corrupt, incompetent or both. We are told by the media they went to war but Canelo save for some spurts spent the whole time on the back foot defending. It was a good fight but it wasn't a war and it wasn't a war because Canelo often refused to engage.

It seems as if now the only way to win a decision is to stay on the back foot, throw some flashy punches and it doesn't matter if your opponent is out throwing and landing you. Offensive boxing is treated as second class, GGG was very defensively sound on the front foot tonight but somewhere along the way people forgot that it's possible to be a great boxer, be defensively sound and still be aggressive. It seems anyone who is aggressive is now called a slugger despite how high level their skill may be.

When you have almost every trainer and fighter coming out and saying GGG was robbed and deserved the decision but judges are scoring it a draw or for Canelo, something is clearly wrong with their training. Judges do not and will never know more about boxing than the trainers and fighters and the fact they often seem to disagree with them says to me their training and how they score the fight needs to be looked at.

Serious rallies by Canelo ... 1 maybe 2 borderline 3 if you're desperate but none of them swayed the fight.
Canelo was puffing by the mid rounds, brave fighter but he seemed to be relying on that rally that never happened,he just couldn't muster it up.
GGG took the fight to Canelo, how many times did you look at it and see GGG on the back foot ?
Even in the 11th and 12th GGG had the points in the bag and still went at Canelo when many fighters would go safety.

GGG is the Number 2 Boxer in the world today.

We disagree on many, many things, but I agree completely with this post. 8-4 GGG is what I made it, too.

You absoltutely get the point. It's strange how many judges judge the bouts. Evereyone remembers the score 144 even in the May vs Canelo bout. Are these judges in bad faith? Or is just inability?
Looking at punches landed and thrown, Golovkin did so much more, not always the boxer who has landed/thrown more punches must win, but, this case, is clearly this way.

GGG did not show his age he fights like that his a slow puncher always was always will be he walked down Canelo after round 3/4 and slowly drained him Canelo couldnt seriously hurt GGG a strong Middleweight no weight draining to help Canelo in this one GGG won clearly

I like the both fighters (OK, I am not fond of ODLH), GGG was the better one yesterday, definitely, 116-112.....

I was at the IBF Convention and attended the judges meeting. They showed a fight with Teddy Atlas' biased commentary favoring the boxer who should have lost, but won on the official scorecards by a split decision. We watched the fight and unofficially scored it on small sheets of paper. I am not a professional judge and scored it correctly, but there were a few judges influenced by Atlas. The training that these judges receive is BS. This was the training for them at the convention, to see if they could score a fight correctly without being influenced by a biased commentator and a few failed or scored it closer than it should have been. Being a pro judge is because of years of experience and not necessarily expertise.
