Gil, the fact that the Russian Olympic team has been banned is a different story. OK, Povetkin took PEDs and got caught, something I have no problem to accept, let's go on a case by case basis...what's your list of the Russian professional boxers who got caught? pull it and compare it with the list of North American boxers just for the sake of argument..

Most Russian boxers aren't going to get caught as they often fight in Russia and are tested by the local authorities. If an International Drug Testing lab takes place they're often caught.
Off the top of my head Povetkin is the only one to have got caught, and I'm not saying North American fighters don't juice. I'm just saying don't pretend like Russians don't also.
I expect 70 to 80% of all athletes do at some point. Some are just better at getting away with it than others.
I personally don't give a damn if they're all juiced myself. It's when fights get cancelled over it that I get annoyed.

povs still better than parker. a lot of ppl dont seem to realize just how limited joe is. he looked embarrassingly cluelese for much of his fights with obese andy and hughie and arguably deserved 2 losses. also while povs power has dropped parker never had it to begin with against decent opponents.

I think it is the other way around. Joshua should stay away from Povetkin. There is a real chance he takes a loss in that one. Povetkin is the most skilled HW out there at the moment. Just bit too small for the modern circus.
It is funny that people say hes power is gone when it was exactly the thing that kept his opponents hands glued to the face and throwing something around 10 punches a round. It is really hard to KO opponent that is doing more hugging than punching.
Joshua only needs to wait couple of more years before Povetkin is old enough to be easy prey.

Povetkin is a big name with a fine record whose name would look great in the 'win column' of anyone's resumé and he's not going to be around forever. Fighting Povetkin also discharges AJ's WBA mandatory. I bet Eddie is licking his lips at the possibility.
A bit off-topic but I didn't feel it was deserving of a separate thread: Was anyone else impressed with the Povetkin v Hammer referee? Nothing to do with him being a Brit I promise you, but I thought his refusal to accept any holding or rule-bending kept the fight moderately interesting and prevented it degenerating into a tedious spectacle. I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know who he was but kudos to him all the same.

It would be much harder for Hammer to tie up Joshua than it was against Povetkin. Still it is hard to Ko someone who is only there to survive. I still think that Joshua would find a way to KO him.
I agree on Wilder being dangerous opponent. Joshua has better skills and should win that fight rather easily... But it only takes one mistake against Wilder and you are out.
Parker would be the easiest opponent from the big names. I hope they get the fight made soon.
I also noticed the good job the old referee was doing in the ring. He was able to keep the fight in decent track.
