Sure 14 fighters all fighting for 1 card could pose problems, but with contigency/backup fighters being available for quarter or semi bouts i don't think it would be too difficult to overcome. Having finalists pull out is another story as i would envisage finals being the headline - but is it much different from any other weekend of boxing? Golovkin Canelo 2 was scheduled to be the biggest fight of 2018 and its descended into farce with a shambolic opponent and change of network & even state that it will be held. It happens, tournament format or not.
Even when using the words farce and shambolic in your example of why it’s ok, you don’t see the problem?
If a number of under prepared stand ins are brought in you no longer have a tournament or a result with and meaning.
I just don't think the problems you are highlighting are problems that are exclusive to tournaments; they are general challenges that every promoter faces anyway, sure i can see why such issues could be amplified in tournament formats but as i mentioned in my first post in this thread, i think there is room in boxing for such formats, especially at domestic level. Asking stand-ins to be prepared in case of dropouts in early stages of tournaments surely can't be that hard at lower levels where tough journeymen looking for a payday are ten a penny. It's finals and headliners i think is where it gets a little more problematic. As you mentioned, George Groves shoulder injury reflects that, but if the contest is postponed for a while before actually coming off, i suspect the tournament will still be reflected upon as being a success.
Ah so you don’t want equivalent level stand ins, you want journeymen on call. Perhaps worse. The semis and finals have no credibility as some of the contestants had knockover jobs to get there and the boxers with proper matches withdraw or demand more money to keep the wheels turning as they are no longer in a fair format.
A ‘proper’ show with three tournaments running at the same time is different to a standard show in that one mans injury causes issues for every other contest, not just his own.
As your show would still go ahead with makethenumbersupstandins then
A tournament run like that would have so little credibility that nobody would even pass comment on it let alone buy a ticket so I don’t believe it would be any kind of success.

Prizefighter was a breakout opportunity for young up & coming fighters who would be fighting journeymen anyway after a few run outs vs no hopers. Some journeymen end up cracking a nice win too at some stage of their careers that up their stock. Ronnie Clarke was braught in to lose vs Barret recently but earned a win despite being a big underdog. I don't think having lower-level standins available for round 1/QFs is such a problem.
For semi's i think the best 2 losing QF's could be paid to train as wildcards, so they are ready to standin for pull outs. Again i dont think this harms the integrity much provided a Semi-final isn't a rematch of a QF. This is what they done in PF anyway when a winner couldn't compete, was it not?

Honestly I can’t really be bothered to keep rewording the same couple of points over and over.
Your concept is nice, it doesn’t work as it’s not practical and it’s impossible to finance.

I'm quite looking forward to it kids with 5-0ish records fight each other should be good.

Tournements like this really are prone to problems though.

They had one planned recently in the midlands was planned as quarter finals one night, then semis, then final.

The quarter finals ended up being scrapped to semis due to pull outs and it doesn't look like they are going ahead with the final. In fact the two lads who were due to fight in the final were matched against each other on another promoters card with no mention of it being the final (for the midlands area belt) but think that might have fell through now too.

Shame cuz in theory they are great ideas.

Hatton, Paulie and Crolla are big reliable names. I'm sure they've thought this through.

I think McLeod will beat Kremner and then win the tournament. Good for boxing and good for boxers these events.
