Yeah they definitely could.
Then Joshua and Wilder are not that bad, right? Could Joshua or Wilder beat Riddick Bowe in his prime?

As of this moment I'd give 'em each a 50/50 chance with him. They may well wind up being better than him in the long run. Bowe's career is mostly just unrealized potential, but he did reach the pinnacle of the sport for a short time.

One thing is for sure. The two belt holders are pretty poor technique wise compared to many of the best in previous eras.

Wilder is a fit boy with a long reach but he has virtually no skill to speak of.

Joshua is a big lump who is hard to shift but he made a 40 year old Klitschko who previously looked mechanical and manufactured look like the second coming of Ali and Fred Astaire.

The 1970s, its been said, was one of the best HW eras but I distinctly remember old guys then claiming they weren't as good as Marciano, Louis or Dempsey.

After watching Wilder and Joshua's recent performances, I find myself wondering could either of these belt holders have beaten a prime, and I emphasize prime, Mike Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, or either Klitschko? I'm not sure either Wilder or Joshua could.

Wilder and Joshua don't seem to throw in combinations like the best HWs of yesteryear. So let's forget about patriotism and partisanship. Am I right here? Are they not as good?
watch ali against bonavena or
tyson against ruddock, or louis
against billy conn - all the greats
had fights when they did not look so
great, just after their careers these
are the fights we don't remember
them for.

nobody has an easy day with riddick
in his terribly short prime. they would
not look silly though, at least joshua
would not.

Good point. I was thinking about Ali-Bonavena myself, may have been the 9th round as an example of that.
