First time I’ve heard anyone say that.
I remember the Hayemaker video with Haye climbing the rope etc and the sparring clip where he catches Wilder and he wobbles but that’s about all I’ve seen or heard from those sessions until now.
True?
Surprising?
Probably is true due to the amount of coverage they gave that ten second clip of him catching Wilder.
whats the logic here?
That that’s all they published from a full camp.

His one punch power isn't that great (though I'm sure he'd KO me, just with a jab), but he really batteres opponents into submission with hard punch after hard punch. Almost all of the stoppages are like that. He catches them, he lands a couple more, they go down, they get up, he unloads, the are out on the ropes, and the ref stops it. Whereas with Wilder you see one punch does a lot more, and he tends to knock them clean out more often.
Yes i would say that joshua throws every shot hard, whereas wilder throws everything into his power shots.

You want to see hours and hours of sparring, weight training, endless versaclimbing, Haye coming back down the rope etc etc?
It was a brief hype video which contained a few seconds of sparring.
It’s not common practice for boxers to release long sparring videos to build up a contest.

I would like to see a round or two of them sparring.

Yeah me too, but that they didn’t release full rounds doesn’t indicate how they went, nobody ever really does let full sparring videos out.
I suspect at that time Haye would play with Wilder but perhaps not, I just don’t think that the only clips we’ve seen are short indicates that a longer clip would show Wilder getting the better of things. What will be true is that Haye was never MORE on top of Wilder, but landing heavy shots that wobble someone and easily evading like a ballerina is as on top as he could be I guess.

Come on hit to write exactly the same. Wilder's one attribute is power take that away and hes not got a lot else
Problem is you can't take it away.
Yes you can. Also you have to do is constantly step 1/2 inch out of reach and Wilder ends up in these sloppy overextended southpaw positions with a dipped chin. Anyone decent throws and uppercut and those filthy wild swings stop

I read it too, just mentions he sparred with Wlad.
I think Wlad had more power in his hugs, than he did in his punches. Thanks to Manny.

That is exactly the technique that groves used on the crude eubank jnr. Small steps out of distance and to his left.

The way wilder has been tagged and wobbled in fights suggests he is vunerable aswell.

I think that is what makes an AJ v wilder fight so interesting.

Groves was slippery on the inside and able to avoid eubanks work and get away. That was a big factor, he had a high fight IQ in that fight, as opposed to the froch fights that he really should have won.

Wilder gets good extension on the right hand, I dont think the step back will work 100% of the time. Wilder will adjust to that. Joshua needs head movement in the fight, a term im not sure he understands.

Agreed. Also Groves was only able to utilise that step-back because he has always been light and intelligent on his feet- remember him making Degale look a bit clueless with the simple strategy of moving on the back foot and making Degale chase him.

Joshua hasn't got nearly the lightness or cleverness of Groves's footwork so I can't see him pulling off too many cute traps with his feet, especially against Wilder who is lighter and looks more mobile and athletic. I agree
I could see Joshua taking one around his guard backing up thinking he's out of range and underestimating Wilders wingspan

Much better to drive Wilder backwards behind a high guard, keeping his back hand at home with consistent jabbing (and lots of heavy jabs to the body), and putting pressure Wilders loose and sometimes Ill-balanced footwork , also robbing of his power which he needs to step into. IMO :TU:

Agreed. I think Wilder is more fleet footed than Joshua but not by a great deal. Groves is very fleet footed and Joshua looks like a plant that has sprouted roots into the canvas compared to him. He really fkd up those Froch fights. The first one I blame on him entirely because he came in with his own gameplan and thought he would have the firepower to take Froch out. Froch somehow took the punches and Groves blew his load and was en route to getting stopped for me. In the second fight he still held his feet too much and getting caught with a right hand that he didn't see because he was throwing a left hook was just poor. I think thats why he fell out with Fitzpatrick so acrimoniously. I'm guessing throwing those left hooks was Fitzpatricks idea. Groves had been doing that all night and this time Froch timed it perfectly and starched him.

Exactly. And to say you can't take a fighters power away is the opposite of boxing 101. You can... Mayweather made big punchers look like fairies all the time
