Who had an easy night against Frank?

Tyson in their rematch. That’s it. Nobody else dispatched him with ease or without going through trouble etc

Holmes would win no doubt, but Frank would have his moments.

Bruno might action plenty of scares, but I would expect Holmes to win somewhere between 10 and 13.

I agree about Frank being underrated.

I wouldn't put him in the league of Tyson or Lewis, obviously. But both of those boxers had fights against Bruno that didn't go all their own way. The first Bruno vs Tyson fight, Bruno nearly had him in the first. And to go even five rounds against a fighter who very few saw the start of the second round, let alone the end, was a feat in itself.

Also, it was Bruno's stamina that let him down against Lewis, more than anything.

I think that was Bruno's problem. Good skill and power, but struggled going into the second half of the fight. Even vs McCall he was holding on for the final bell.

Bruno was one of those boxers who was better than the good, but not as good as the great. I think sometimes people sometimes look at his loss, and his lighthearted "know what I mean, Harry" personality, and think of him as being a bit rubbish. Just not the case.

Obviously Holmes wins, but I think he might have to climb off the floor to do so.

I doubt that.

Bruno never floored a world class opponent due to being so slow, so I'd be shocked if he could deck an ATG like Larry Holmes.

Larry's 'blind spot' seemed to be overarm rights, Shavers, Snipes and Tyson all dropped him with that punch and Witherspoon had a lot of success with it, Frank tended to be all jab jab straight right, I think Larry would have had a very easy time with him.

Have to agree with everyone Holmes was one of the best of all time and would have hammered Bruno quite easy I think, Homes was very quick, and a great chin, and I suspect would have beaten Big Frank in about 6 or 7 rounds.

I think Holmes wears him down in around 10-12. Frank would definitely have his moments though, this was a more hittable Holmes than before.

Holmes by Nov 84 was fading fast compared to what he was even in 82. There's a definite pre and post Cooney side to his career.

He hurt Tyson and won plenty of rounds against Lewis and Witherspoon. He also put Gerrie Coetzee to sleep. If Snipes could deck Larry, then Bruno could.

Gerrie Coetzee was world class and Bruno absolutely flattened him. Also, failing to score a KD against Tyson, Lewis, Witherspoon, Bonecrusher and McCall in their primes hardly diminishes his power. In the roughly 190 fights that collectively comprise their prime years, those five were knocked down only six times.

Yes, fair points.

I've had my mind changed by the last 2 posters. :salut:

Yes, it is an unusual concept, probably last seen on an internet forum circa 2000.

forcefraser wrote: 29 May 2018, 07:09 The gulf in class would have been enormous. Holmes’s jab was a thing of beauty and he had a chin made of granite. Some of He bombs he took against Norton was unbelievable. The Shavers knockdown also showed what a true chin looks like.

He’d have beaten Frank black and blue and we’d have seen Bruno lumbering on the ropes in a stupor with Holmes teeing of on him. Ref would jump in.

Every time Bruno jumped to world level he fell short in the end (Tyson, Lewis, witherspoon) he gave a great account of himself against Lewis and Witherspoon but ultimately he didn’t have what it took to win.
 :TU: Exactly right.
