Agree. Small incremental improvements, mostly on defence. The reason I like him is, he could have carried on just using his engine and power and probably got the Londsdale belt. But I see a guy who might move beyond the UK, maybe with a loss he can learn from along the way. At 25, and showing he can learn, there could be a future at European and maybe a title shot in a few years.
Whatever the case, he really is a fan friendly fighter that I love to watch.

A bit of background info on this Saturday’s British Super-Welterweight Title fight between Ted Cheeseman and Asinia Byfield. The show is promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and broadcast live on Sky Sports

I rate Byfield as a fighter but I hope he gets smashed after watching that press conference today. Talking all that street shjt, it's the one thing that right runs me up the wrong way fam

I rate byfield too but none of that chat matters, he's getting beat

Yeah me to, think he will be getting tee'ed off on around 8/9. Don't think he's got the power to keep Cheeseman off him

Byfield is a decent operator and will be tricky for the first few rounds but expect Cheeseman to stop him in 5-6. He came across a right helmet at the press conferences etc so I'm hoping Cheeseman chins him...

Byfield didn't make weight first time. But has since come back and got inside. Think I read he was 11st 3oz first time. Didn't read a weight now

Looked good, not too drained at all.
Byfield was OK as well in the end.

I'm not going to say this could be the fight of the weekend- because I said that about Davies/Catterall and I don't want to jinx it

Not this weekend! The Cheese train is gonna take a little detour on its way to world domination. Ted will learn from it and come back stronger though.

Cheeseman has the skill to outbox byfield which many may find surprising.

I do find that surprising. I would say Cheeseman has the power and relentless come forward style to get Byfield's respect, and may grind out a win. I still don't think it's a given that Ted will win. It's definitely a step up for the cheese.

Byfield looks awful here....no power, and what’s with the half turning his back

118-109 Cheeseman for me , excellent performance and a good fight despite it being pretty much all one way traffic, Byfield had a good 1st switching and tagging Cheeseman with some quality shots, after that though it was just a case of Cheeseman walking Byfield down and breaking him down systematically round after round, I liked the way he mixed the power in his punches, tapping with both hands then firing a big uppercut in or a wicked bodyshot, scored a nice knockdown in the 5th doubling up the right hand

Byfield has awful technique, his jab from both stances is just a tapping paw which he doesn't fully extend, all his shots looked half hearted and as if he was punching through treacle., even as early as the 2nd his shots were poor and tired looking, he's moves a lot but he's all over the place and regularly found himself back turned to Cheeseman, you cant question his heart though he looked ragged for a while but managed to avoid the real big shots although he did ship some quality right hands

Byfield showed a good chin and even had success in the last 2 rounds, I thought Macklin was a bit OTT with calls to stop it, fair enough Byfield was a mile behind and looked exhausted but he was always throwing back even if there was no snap in his shots

Why wouldn't they let the lads be interviewed after the fight?
