Being
that much bigger affords you the opportunity to make anyone look less skillful than you. Spence was able to counter Mikey’s jab with hooks. I will believe Spence is a more talented boxer when Spence outboxes Canelo.
"That much bigger" in the case of Spence vs Garcia is 3.5" height & 4" reach.
When fellow welter Leonard beat Hearns his disadvantage was almost identical at 3" height & 4" reach
When Ruslan Chagaev beat a real "Goliath" named Valuev his disadvantage was 11" height & 11" reach
If Spence one day outboxes Canelo then that will make him a more talented boxer than Canelo & has NOTHING to do with Garcia. Spence already proved himself a more talented boxer than Mikey. What you might BELIEVE doesn't make it reality.
Spence is not even that big for a welter.
* Though dwarfed by Hearns, at 5'10" & 74" SRL still taller+longer reach than Spence is (5'9.5" & 72")
* DeLaHoya was 1" taller with 1" longer reach than Spence is.
* Trinidad was 1.5" taller with 1/2" longer reach
* Forrest was 2.5" taller with 1" longer reach
* etc, etc, etc...

just wondering, why do you rate this win so highly yet say that loma-rigo was a 'ridiculous' matchup that you continually bashed and had no high praises for the win? there was actually less of a height difference for loma vs rigo, and rigo had a 2-3 reach advantage, so using your own applied focus on height and reach it was a smaller difference
btw going by your size listings david tua was about the same size as oscar, tito, etc

Spence is rather big by today's standards as he's the only one I can see being successful at 154 but the welters today are a lot smaller than before. Porter moved down for a reason and Thurman and Garcia will be too small for 154. Crawford would only have a chance based on skill level but he's small. The 154lbers are a lot bigger.
To give a difference is size between 147 and 154, Spence is around the same size as Lara who is considered smaller compared to the other 154lbers.

And to be perfectly honest, I’m not sure if Spence Jr. deserves a lot of credit for his high-reward very low-risk bout with Mikey Garcia either. He could have made a statement and bulldozed and stopped his smaller opponent, but instead he played it relatively safe. It was still a decent performance though.
I guess this depends on your definition of low risk, high reward. I perceived this as the opposite. It was low risk, high reward for Garcia as he had little to lose and a lot to gain by moving up 2 weight classes and facing arguably the best ww. Whereas, Spence had a lot to lose and little to gain. If he lost, he lost to the much smaller guy moving up 2 weight classes. But, he won, as he was
supposed to. So, not a lot of reward there.
It was low risk for Spence Jr., because he was paid handsomely to play the role of being a massive favourite and rightly so.
We can’t say that every fighter perceived as being a massive favourite is taking huge risks with their careers, because that’s utter nonsense.
Had Spence been beaten by Garcia, you don't think that would have been quite detrimental to his reputation and career?

Yeah, by going balls out for the KO, Spence would have had to take a risk. But wake up people, THIS IS BOXING! He got paid millions of dollars and I think they owe it to their fans to create drama and not allow for every round to look like the previous round. It’s all fine and dandy but why is Spence now the toast of the town for this largely forgettable fight.

no chance he was going to be beaten, anyone who looked at the fight rationally could see it was a big mismatch, spence is a very good big ww and mikey is a very good fighter but a guy who just fought at lw and was a 126 pound champ. mikey had no route to victory, he wasnt some super athletic rjj type either who could outspeed a bigger guy

Your last point is why I gave him no chance. I knew Spence was faster and more athletic to go along with bigger. He'll never get tired in a fight. He's a notherfucking handful. He and Crawford are the two best fighters on the planet.

Who would you pick? Most my mates seem to rate Crawford more highly. I think Crawford may just be a little more skilled but I would favour the more imposing physicality that Spence brings.

I have no idea. They're my two favorite current fighters so I don't have any bias. I think Crawford is an all-time Floyd level talent but I'd could see his ego getting him into an inside brawl. I don't think it will ever happen.
