In every sport where performance can be objectively measured in time or distance (track, field, swimming), women lag FAR behind men. The current women's world record for 200 meters is 21.34. In 1923 a guy set the world record at 21.0. So at 200 meter sprinting women are about 96 years behind men.

In swimming world records the male/female difference is not as great (possibly because women have higher % of body fat which increases buoyancy in water). In the 100 freestyle swim the womens' world record is where the men's record was in 1970, so women are "only" 49 years behind men in swimming.

I actually had a look into some of the comparisons myself a little while ago. The women's 100m sprint world record doesn't get past the male qualifiers at the Olympics.

The higher ups in boxing probably see the success women have been having in MMA and are now trying to follow suit. Sure there was the Christie Martin’s and Laila Ali’s of the past but I think all these female MMA stars and people are trying to spark something with boxing now too

LOL!! Very true. I routinely change the channel when a female fight is happening. I have absolutely zero interest. Unless it's Taylor and then only to ogle her physique.

I used to watch Layla Ali. Woman's boxing just doesn't get me going. Woman's football doesn't do it either. I like Woman's basketball and tennis though.

and ya, i dont know that saying she cud beat men is really gonna attract a bunch of men to watch her, her tv numbers were pretty low for what showtime hyped as a female mega fight. undisputed female title, a bunch of hype and lead up shows, the best opponent out there, and then it does low hundred ks and actually down from previous numbers

For sure. The pfl has a 155lb woman's tournament and the winner gets a million bucks. They have an Olympic wrestler that would smash her but woman's mma is miles more respected and entertaining.

Maybe she is delusional. I guess that's possible. I sure don't know her or anyone who knows her. Whether it's the old Gorgeous George act which is make them hate you so they buy a ticket or tune in to see you get beat or that she is truly delusional I do think there'd be an uptick in people watching her.

There are 3 pages here mostly on how everyone hates her and talks about how nuts she is, and maybe she is nuts.

My point is simple: Let's say she fights a woman who actually knocks women out. Her moronic I can beat GGG talk will only increase viewership because people want to see her get beat.

She has certainly had a great career. I still don't like woman's boxing. I do however like woman's basketball; MMA; Tennis; and other sports. Woman's boxing just sucks.

But am I more interested in a woman's super fight than I am in a men's Jr. Featherweight contest when both men have low KO rates? Yes. Does the 8 pages on Shilelds vs Hammer on p. 2 and the 4 pages here on page 1 mean boxing fans are thinking about this, albeit mostly negatively? Yes, again..

I don't classify myself as a woman's boxing fan at all and certainly don't negatively judge anyone who won't watch it. Even though I will watch, but not pay for, a woman's "super fight."

My only point is the more I read, "she's insane....I can't stand her........she's delusional....." the more convinced I am those folks will sneak a look at her fights hoping she gets beat.
